Anyone know of a video showing changing sand on an Astral model 3 pump?

How do you determine what is the skimmer, what is the main drain, what is the spa etc…?

Why don't you use the safety backwash feature that the Astral chlorinator has. I see in the background that's what you have. Also you just set the duration that you want so no fear of forgetting to stop the pump. When I back wash I put my hose on full in the skimmer box, so I don't lose too much pool water containing salt and other chemicals. The close position is also used when you are cleaning or changing the actual pump filters, which need to be done regularly. Another tip I can add is, if your pool fills up with rainwater, instead of simply pumping to waste, use that water to backwash and rinse. Hopefully other pool owners will benefit from the above.

Will it be wise to completely shut off the main drain and leave the skimmer on? Or will it be wise to leave open (completely the main drain and skimmer open?

Thanks mate nice video. Just moved into a place and have this set up. Not sure if it’s just me but sometimes the roof is reading 44 the pump appears to be running but the pool isn’t heating very fast. Any tips ?

Thank you for posting this. Our skimmer wasn't working properly since it was installed a few months ago. The door always floated too high to allow water to come in. I checked the main drain/skimmer control and found that no water was being pumped out of the skimmer which is why the door always floated above the water line. I set the valve to pump some water through the skimmer and it now works perfectly!

These chlorinators do have a few issues requires info from sensors that needs to be maintained and feeder tubes can fail including roller assembly also display screen after UV can unreadable and are expensive to replace

I do not have a valve to separate the suction between the MD and SK. I just have two pipes that merge to a conjunction then into the pump. Do you think I should have a valve installed?

My main dean is marked on the right side and the skimmer is marked on the left, do you by any chance know if they may have marked it wrong, or if it’s common for them to be switched like that at times thank you

Also can I point out that the pressure in the filter guage was 50 kpa (~ 8 psi ) and when at approx 70 to 100 kpa 10 to 14 psi . You would not have a filter left,it would explode if you ran it up to 50 psi
