Likely she told you what was wrong and you didn't accept it as valid --- and if that's the case that would be a you problem. She has to do what she has to do to stay healthy. Pride keeps a lot of parents from apologizing and actually doing the work to change the behavior that is hurting their kids.

I played this for a friend recently and he broke down crying. I've been very fortunate to have really lovely parents but I knew he didn't and I wanted to share this song with him because it reflected a lot of conversations we've had. As someone who shared this experience who now has a son the hurt is still there somedays but giving that boy the love I never got and seeing him smile is the best fuck you I could ever give my parents. Your right mom he did turn out like me... and thers nothing wrong with him either
