How can i bring excel file to web version and send back to desktop? Can you specify it please, normally i use desktop but when i want to launch web version i am only running the same desktop ms excel, why's that?

When you have the web version running, click the File menu, then choose Open Files from this Device. If you don't see that option, click Open and you should hopefully see it there. To bring a file from the web version back to the desktop, go back to the File menu, choose Save As, then choose Download a Copy. If you don't see any of those options, you might be signed in with a free account, rather than a paid account. With a free account, you have to copy & paste back and forth.

Wow. I would issue a challenge to reduce the video length. You could have done that in 30 seconds without all the messing about. But thank you for the info. And it doesn't solve the issue of aligning multiple objects on different layers which is what I needed. But thank you anyway.

If I understand you correctly, if the middle 3 numbers in one of the part numbers in the Substitute tab is 555, you want to replace the entire sequence with something new. Here is how I would do it, starting from the first row, then auto filling down: =IF(MID(A4,5,3)="555",REPLACE(A4,1,11,9999),A4) This means "If the middle sequence of A4 is 555, replace the entire cell with 9999. Otherwise, replace the entire contents with itself."

that was helpful thanks, but still we have go to the select menu. i cant believe they didnt make something easy like "link layers" in photoshop and when you select any layer from that linked/grouped batch you edit them all together... its the same company! why&how photoshop and illustrator are so different in the same tools and same applications, just unbelieveble...

Hi Bob, thank you very much for this video - it nearly solves my problem! When I save a file in Illustrator(With say 12 layers.) When I reopen the file, Illustrator has grouped all these layers into one. I can still open all the individual layers but they are all in one big layer: 'layer 1'? Do you have any idea why it would do this? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I know this is a very old video and I was lead here searching for the answer to the question asked in the comments. The only easyish way I have found to centre objects from multiple layers and keep the layer is... taking note of the artboard size if you dont remember it. Selecting the objects, go to Object > Artboard > Fit to selected art. Now the art is in the middle (without stuffing the layers). Then simply put the original artboard size back in making sure the centre reference point is selected.. Stupid workaround but it works. Only 8 years since this video and it still isnt an option I am pretty sure. Hope it helps someone

☠️BLACK BARON☠️ it works with version iOS 12.3.1 but it fails completely with iOS 14.1. Another creative day for nothing since most apps refuse to install on iOS devices because I MUST UPDATE. Gosh, what a catastrophic messi software politics this has become nowadays.

Selection doesn't work, when I want to align a group of objects in different layers. E.g. if you want to align you streets and names of streets - as a whole - in the middle of work sheet you need to group them.

i am making a vctor portrait and i accidently put all layers like line art, lips ,eyes etc. under one single layer. I didn't noticed it and also saved the document. Is there still a way to undo it?? please help,I dont want to loose my work

Objects in Illustrator don't remember the layers they came from. If you don't have enough undo steps, the best you can do is look for a previously saved version or an automatic backup.

This is a feature people have been asking for Illustrator for a long time. As you may have discovered, if you ungroup, the objects remain on their new layer. They don't retain the information of what layers they came from. The only thing I can suggest is to display the rulers (Ctrl + R or Command + R), drag some ruler guides onto the page, and align the objects manually.

In the 6 years since this video, Microsoft disabled the ability to do this. If you want to reinstall Windows, you'll probably have to reformat your hard drive first. :(

To reduce this down from 8 minutes to a minute, graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/18438/how-to-preserve-layer-settings-when-copying-between-files In summary, in the Layer Panel menu, choose Paste Remembers Layers. Then when you copy/paste between files, other artboards or the same artboard, the layers will remain intact. Thank you for the video, thumbs up.

You mean you pasted all onto one layer without remembering layers turned on? Unfortunately, Illustrator doesn't retain memory of what the source layers used to be. :(

Doesn't allow you to to align the selection as a single entity. For instance, select all, group, then align to art board - works but everything goes to one layer. Select all, save as selection, then align to art board - aligns every individual object and you lose the original layout. Illustrator NEEDS to be able to group across layers.

25/05/18 UK. None of these settings are now active in Chrome. It's not possible to activate Chrome this way.

you don't install Chrome OS you just get the Chrome Browser

Thanks. I already have the browser (among others) and that sure is a lot easier! I just wanted to experience the "shelf" task bar below as if I had the actual installation. But, now, I see that all I have to do is click on the Google Apps in that box - pretty much the same thing. Thanks!!
