The thing about Transformers “lore” is that it is always being reinvented with each new series; yes some things always carry over and the story mostly turns into the same thing, but from what I understand this is in an entirely new continuity. Cool review by the way, can’t wait to see it at my local fan event!

Theory: Longlegs was a former FBI agent part of an unnatural dark operation/project. Anyone else saw the metal orb on Det. Carter desk? Gift of a former friend colleague 🤔 or a fraternity paraphernalia. Out of all the shapes you could pick the slide show had an inverted triangle and Det. Harker says ‘father’. How does Longlegs know their movements to the T… jmo awesome film 💯

Glad to see you enjoyed this one! Movies like this that try to balance tension and comedy effectively have to be handled by a true master of the medium, and the pacing of this film held it back from reaching its true potential. It definitely has moments that will shock you, make you laugh, and leave you wanting more...But there is so much wasted time in the middle of the film that could've been spent getting us attached to these characters to make the conclusion that much more impactful. I think Zoe Kravitz has a future as a director, but this one didn't really land for me. Great review, Dave!

I'm really not a fan of multiversal storytelling, because it opens up the possibility to lazy writing and plotlines with low stakes since characters can be resurrected at will. That being said, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a decent bit of fun watching these two team up from an entertainment standpoint alone. Great review, Dave!

@@SullyStreams thanks man! Yeah for sure, it works here because it’s leaning into the absurdity of the concept but I don’t think it’s something Marvel can do again. Hopefully this can be it’s own thing

The actors' performances are quite good, and I liked the choice of colors and elements in the film, including the sound design. But there's one big downside: the script is complete nonsense, the plot is very weak-it's like a long TikTok video, a collage of moments. The idea is not developed at all. The trailer was very promising, and after a long time, I decided to give it a chance and spend time at the cinema. And yes, that's the right word-I spent my time, but in this case, it was wasted.

I feel like the way you described the part of the story that disappointed you kinda confirmed what I had been suspecting/theorizing…that there’s a bit of a supernatural twist to it😅 Which wouldn’t be a total mood killer for me as long as it’s not so in your face and still kinda vague and mysterious.

Or more like scariest film of the decade or all time why just this year like come on no offense this movie is hyped so we’ll that I haven’t even seen it and people are praising it like it’s the scariest thing ever just scariest film of year is not that big of accomplishment I wanna hear scariest film in the past 5-10 years, unless you don’t think it is

Most thrillers aren't necessarily scary so I wouldn't go into this one with that expectation. The marketing of this movie has been fantastic but it might have been better said that this is possibly the best thriller in decades. Think back to what you thought about Seven or Silence of the Lambs or Frailty etc ...those were excellent thrillers that had horror or some scary vibes but none of them were actually scary in my opinion. I loved all three by the way.

Same! Just finished season one and when he full blown proposed I was lost! I was like wait...aren't you like...old enough to be her dad? I assumed he was seeing her as a daughter, ya know? I thought he was going to get a similar vendetta against Tommy for similar reasons, but it makes more sense in my mind for him to come off as an overprotective father figure and not a romantic interest! I didn't get the vibes at all, that was number one. And number two...dude knows she's falling for(let's face it, she fell already) someone way younger, hotter, all around better in general, even has the bad boy with a heart of gold aesthetic going on! Of course she wants Thomas fucking Shelby and not some weird old dude who was literally old enough to be her dad and was pals with her actual dad! Like...dude had a cane...the Asian prostitute even said he was old lmfao like what!
