Something is wrong with the game data for Mario Kart 64. Did you inject it from a actual n64 rom into the Virtual Console? If so, then try to reinfect it again and see if that fixes the issue.

See error # 307 : 1:57 The error code # 307 is not unknown. The explaination is shown already on the screen, which says: "This data is corrupted and cannot be used". Thats a case of corrupted game files. Theres also a normal variant of: "This channel cannot be used.", which is the same as error # 307 In that case: - Is the game files corrupted? - Are there any missing files? Also how many times did you see this error, while troubleshooting? (P.S: You can see this error screen more in common with modded Wii consoles)

That it's not a full bug. If you were to play it on an original DS from 2004, it would actually turn off the backlight but still show the screen. However, newer DS models and by that extent 3DS models don't work the same as the original DS, so that ends up happening
