i'm on 4.2 and can't for the life of me find anywhere that lets me create an "Empty", all i can do apparently is "Parent to Empty", but no one ever uses that for bending, at least not on any videos i've seen

Hey i just started using blender 4.2.1, i usually just press 'shift A' and select empty that way. then in the simple deform modifier on your cube, you refer to that empty under 'origin'. when you rotate the empty (ex. 90degrees) on whatever dimension (ex. Z), you should be able to go back to the simple deform and rotate the object on that same dimension
