Yngwie and other so-called "shredders" do nothing more than what I have come to refer to as : FRETBOARD MASTURBATION. There's rarely any musicality, melodic purpose, emotion or musical story telling with notes to the soloing. It's just a self-indulgent, ego-driven exercise in "Hey, look at me and what I can do! Aren't I impressive?". It's BORING as hell! Give me a beautiful, musically-purposeful David Gilmour solo over this stuff any day of the week.

I find Gilmour boring, wake me up when he is done was always my thought. I get YJM is only a shell of himself but when he broke out, he wasnt boring and had way too many songs that were never seen prior feel and technique.
