I have the dream router and U6 long range and i bought the POE++ injector from unifi. My UDR is downstairs and my U6 Long range is upstairs. Upstairs I have a poe port, so i connected like you said the lan port from the injector with my poe port in the wall and my poe++ port from the injector with my access point. It works, but I still get this message in my network configuration from the u6: This access point is connected to a port, which does not supply sufficient power for optimal operation. To ensure reliable and full-capacity performance, please connect the access point to a PoE+ compliant port. I was hoping that the injector could fix this problem, but it doesn't.. Did I do something wrong?
@KoenRodrigus-p7r2 ай бұрын
UPDATE: the problem was the connection in my wall with the poe port of the UDR. Once I changed it to a non POE port from the router the POE++ could take over.

Lots of things lol You don't need a switch for this scenario. Instead of a switch just plug it into a lan port to your router. Most switches nowadays already comes with a couple poe ready ports anyway.

Great cables. And the 10cm versions are only the cable. So they are longer when you calculate including the boots. And I buy them as 50-pack, then they will be sets of 10 (×5) and will be straight. So no kink in the cable.

Question, if these are being used as a wireless AP, I'm not required to plug an ethernet cable from the injector to my switch/router, correct? I can just power the AP using the injejector and then connect the AP wirelessly to my router?
@nodd852 жыл бұрын
If you’re going to wirelessly link to another access point for data then yes, you can use a Poe injector to just provide power. But you’d have to have another UniFi access point that’s connected via an Ethernet wire to uplink too. Is that what you mean?
@shervinaryan26312 жыл бұрын
@@nodd85 what I'd be doing is purchasing three access points, one of which will be powered using the injector and connected to my router via ethernet using the Poe injector and the other two will be connected wirelessly but powered using the injector and only using the injector to power the access points, not hardwired to my router.
@nodd852 жыл бұрын
@@shervinaryan2631 That will work. I’m assuming you can’t get ethernet runs to the other 2 locations?

@@nodd85 no, I wish. The main problem will be the 2nd floor but I'm waiting to move into the property in June to see if I have the ability to fish up a cable, which I doubt. The main problem will be the 2nd floor. The basement is unfinished so it'll be hardwired as well. Thank you for the help!

your videos are nice and clear and to the point - one question after watching it: how and where do I find the dashboard? internet or downloaded program ? I have the outdoor mesh ap - same principle but not sure how to adopt it to my wireless network?
@gbnetworks87222 жыл бұрын
Ubiquiti has 3 main ways to have a dashboard. You can buy their proprietary hardware like their Cloudkey Gen 2, UDM, or UDM pro. You can also download their free Unifi network software from their website and manage your devices on your own computer or server locally. The 3rd option is downloading the UniFi network app on your phone and setting your device up in "standalone mode". I have a video on getting the UniFi controller on your computer kzbin.info/www/bejne/ami8fmqijtmWr7s. I also have a video on the free network app kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep3YfGWZYtZ4gKM

How many access points can you use with that switch?
@gbnetworks87222 жыл бұрын
This is the US-8-60W POE switch in the video. It has 4 regular non-poe ports and 4 poe ports. So technically this could power 4 access points.

Thanks so much! I have my tplink switch (non poe) and router in the garage downstairs, so I plugged the POE injector to power and switch Now I have an ethernet port upstairs that I want to attach the AP, would it just work through that port or the should the injector be upstairs attached directly to the AP?
@gbnetworks87223 жыл бұрын
If the port upstairs is not poe then the access point will not work for the port. You would have to take the poe injector and plug the Lan port into the wall from the poe injector, then you would plug the port that says poe on the injector into the access point. That should make the access point work.

Thanks for the video! For future reviews, you should also capture data in the same room as the AC-Pro from both the Pro and In-Wall. The cover photo you have saying "Can it outperform a traditional AP?" is misleading in this case because of that fact. Other than that, good video!

Great review thanks for the info. Did you end up upgrading to the HD ever?
@gbnetworks87223 жыл бұрын
I did not. The regular AC-In-Wall has been doing great actually. It's not the most powerful thing ever, but for just getting decent and quick wifi to a room that I couldn't cable, it has done great. I however would upgrade to the HD if you had more than 5 devices that are bandwidth hungry like HD streaming and things like that or if i needed longer range for my wifi. I only have 3 devices on it and it is just fine. The wifi reaches about 65ft before it starts to diminish.

@@gbnetworks8722 thanks. I actually ended up going with the HD actually. I wanted the pro but it’s been on back order near me. So far the HD is working great. Good speeds and coverage.
