Smithing stones are used to upgrade weapons, the thing you got from the knight is an ash of war, it's basically a skill you can put on weapons, this one I think it's for swords only, it's pretty good and I think you need to find a "whetblade" first to be able to use it, you will find that in the first camp where you got that map. Always abuse NPCs dialogue when they are done it will repeat itself. Would be good to slowly get an idea of what kind of character you want to play as, the game offers you a lot of options, fx I made a lighting samurai shooting lightning bolts to deal with range fights and having lighting infused swords, I did had a bit more fun after I learned a bit about stats and you know all these stuff like equip load that makes you fat rolling and what everything in that menu means so don't shy away from checking google for a quick explanation if you feel the same as me And if I may say even though you are doing great, try to not panic, keep your calm just as in cs, watch the enemy, like literally keep your eyes on them and observe their movement and dodge at the right time. And the most important thing is the keybinds on kbm, default ones are very bad, you are not even using your pouch which you can bind on E+mouse4/5 and from what I remember a lot of other things were very weird like something on the arrow keys, dodge being on some other key that was not comfortable I had to put in on space, I played the game both on controller and kbm first on kbm because I was never good with controllers but I bought one eventually and gave it a try and actually I like it better now on Elden Ring. I hope you don't mind me writing these comments I just remember myself in the beginning feeling a bit tooooo overwhelmed and lost with the whole game and needed at least some small pointers

Also u should increase your endurance so u will roll faster

You should try to get bloodhound fang. It’s a really good early game weapon.

You can get the medium roll by removing one piece of equipment armor/weapons if you master the dodge you don't take damage so try to keep it always like that unless you specifically want to go for a build with heavy roll.

you should lower your equipment weight so that you can dodge as intended :))

Idk if they changed it but low weapon durability would cripple the damage of your weapons, alongside low stamina so maintaining those are ideal. but i don't know much since i try to avoid dead island 2 like it's the plague also turning valves in order to do stuff is such a dead island move, i swear there is at least 5 missions dedicated to that on each of these games, i swear bro dead island riptide literally had it in the prologue in the sewer portion of the original dead island you had them, i swear they add that just because they can.

kk so the weapon stat system will tell you if the gun you are looking at is better than the one you are currently using, and if you are in your inventory it will then compare it to the one you have selected to replace, basically if you don't know if a weapon will be better or not it will tell you by the color of the numbers and the arrows.

Little tip... cut the z's legs to thin big herds.

The Game has a flawed health and damage system, as you level up items will cost more and the drops will always be proportional to your level, so having no money going into higher level aspects of the game will literally cripple you. im to a point on my account where 300k literally does nothing for me.

they 100% changed how the zombies worked for dead island 2, in the previous 4 games they made it to where if you traveled on foot you would eventually run in to infected that you could not avoid. also according to dead island lore (which was thrown out for dead island 2) the main characters you play as are immune to the zombie virus, in the original you can play as Ryder, the husband of the person who created the zombies, and it was a wild story, basically trying to create a "cure" only to turn the rest in to stronger infected. it was wild as shit, and the lore was thrown away for dead island 2 as it's supposed to have it's own separate story line apart from the main games which they left on a cliff hangar. the using the blood of the immune to make a cure was also a part of the original storyline but instead it just made stronger infected, lol.

this is just the very early part of the game, and yes it has daytime cycles, but this game is very long, like the average player can do the main storyline in 30 hours, so be expecting like a 50 hour playthrough, quite literally one of the reasons why i quit playing, it gets repetitive and the culture shock humor gets old really quickly. also sliding and melee and closing the distance between you and your enemy is one of the best ways to play borderlands, the movement makes for some good enjoyment also the inventory only shows what isn't equpped, so you had 2 different shields, one was equipped and one wasn't the icons look the same but the name and the stats will be different. also if you play with someone of a higher level only the loot from the people you killed will be your level, whilst the ones killed by the higher level player will have a high level cap, but you can still sell them for a lot of money so playing coop is basically a way to cheat the game in the early stages.

Borderlands 2 is probably one of the greatest game I have ever played. I'm 41 so I've played way too many... Way too many... Borderlands 2 has everything: amazing main villain, great pacing, wonderful loot, superb player characters, top dialogues... Nothing's bad. Top 10 in my list. Oh amd, as a Canadian that owns clips using guns and magazines using ones... Use what you prefer. Call them clips, call them mags, call them how you feel. Let the boys go crazy.

As i was watching you play I noticed you trying to figure out what guns are good and what isn't. Figured as a 1000 hour player I could give you the basics. Jakobs: heavy crits and fires as fast as you can pull the trigger Dahl: burst fire while zoomed and reduced recoil Hyperion: stabilizers that increase the accuracy of the gun as you fire Bandit: really big magazines Tourge: lots of explosive rounds, but the bullets fly a little slower so you need to lead your target a bit more Tediore: fastest reload speed and when you reload your gun you throw it like a grenade Maliwan: elemental weapons that are really good at doing their respective job Also when you're comparing to guns in your inventory, you'll notice that there's a bunch of arrows. Those basically show which one has better stats quicker.
