The minigame is consist only for racing and cooking, while the buddy box you can get by looking in every area and they have a 65% chance of spawning

You can find alot of powerups near bushes or crosspaths in atlantis, for krusty towers you can find powerups mostly near waterslides and above trees

You probably missing the one where you fight plankton tank
