This was a very interesting video. While I understand the reasoning behind why the app was killed, I believe it should be revisited. I was hesitant in 2020 to use an app to order, but now that I've tried it, I use an app every time I order from a place when it's available. I don't like the browser experience as it's not as quick and refined on a phone. I love using a desktop to order many items, but I won't order food from a browser on a desktop. When QR codes came out, they weren't popular because the buy-in to too great for most consumers. When phone operating systems matched the code reader to the native camera on the device, they are much more popular and have come back. I don't eat at Penn Station that often but I arrived at this video because I noticed there wasn't an app. I like to order the same meal over and over. Chipotle has an app, but you can't order ahead because you WILL get a small portion size. Chick-fil-A has one of the best apps and rewards programs. Arby's has a pretty terrible app for refunds on out-of-stock items. Refunds in general for out-of-stock items have been the biggest headache with app ordering that I've found. The Domino's app is great. Marco's app is horrible because they tried to redevelop what they were using and failed. I won't even order pizza from Marco's because their website is just as bad but their pizza is better quality than Domino's. Again, I would encourage looking at an app in the future. I would agree that the costs of updating are high and the hard part is you can't really afford to make a mistake on the development company.

I always thought it was odd that Penn Station dumped their app so i googled it the other day which led me here lol. Personally I love using apps to order food. Saves time standing in line and allows me to easily customize orders, Subways app for example allows lots of customization. I have lots of food apps on my phone (50+) I'm also in my 30s so maybe it's a generational thing. When I'm hungry i actually just scroll my apps till I find something that sounds good. I actually still have penn station app on my phone just so I don't forget about them. I also love loyalty programs, on days when Subway or Jersey mikes are running double point promos if im looking to eat out that day i find myself more drawn to them bc of the loyalty program bonus. Personally I think penn station app was rather basic and not the most user friendly which might have been why it wasn't used as much. Great video, I learned alot.

I think its time to just admit that Yanni is a scumbag. He stole more than a quarter million dollars from people looking to obtain something that started out as a good idea, but he has left us with nothing but lies, shameful updates, and now has essentially ghosted everyone.

I’m French and I was in the restaurant & hotel industry around the world for nearly four decades now. I remembered when I first moved to New York City in the mid nineties people were ordering a glass of red or white rosé wasn’t yet in fashion … nowadays everyone wants a glass of Chardonnay Sauvignon blanc Merlot Cabernet franc etc etc my point here is everybody thinks that is a foodie and a wine expert. I have seen people returning perfectly cooked dish or eating more than half of a dish and asking the dish to be removed from their checks please give me a break. I’m glad I left the industry to never return

I'm one of the backers of this product on Kickstarter. The project (if it actually delivers on the current promise) will be over 1 year late, with no real reasons given...it isn't electronic, so no chip shortages, etc. Many other non-electronic projects have delivered on time. If you complain too much on KS, Yianni will insult you. One backer took the time to list all the updates with the constant delay announcements, and Yianni's response was "& if you'd spent as much time on space travel as you did on composing your comment, we'd have colonized Mars by now..."
