Another reason to get a drotto. Boat doesn't come off the trailer until you are in the boat and pull the release. Gives you plenty of time to back in, throw it in park and hit the emergency brake before walking back to the boat.

I have really thought about doing the droto, looks like something I could use for sure

@@samrardinfishing Have one on my Ranger and it's great!! No need to power up onto the trailer and leave it in forward gear while you run to the front and hook up the strap. I'll never have another bass boat trailer without it!

Thanks for sharing Sam. A good reminder that this could happen to any of us and to have a regimented system for launching and trailering, as you do, and to stick to it. My boat mates know I have MY system and although I appreciate their help, I prefer to complete the process by myself so I don’t get home and realize I didn’t tie down the transom. (Cause I did forget one time) 😮
@samrardinfishingАй бұрын
@@touchtheskyblue this is true, the amount of reps we have at the lake just makes for more complacency.

I always roll my windows down when backing in just in case. Also, I never disconnect the front of the boat for this exact reason

A few days after this happened, Sam and I were fishing. He was using his Dad's truck. We were on our way home after loading up. I always wear an auto-inflating live jacket/vest. We're driving down the road, and there are plenty of times that I completely forget that the vest is even on but this time I left it on, on purpose. Sam looks at me and he says "Rondo... you still have your lifejacket on" I said "I know! I'm in YOUR truck.. who knows if I'll still need it or not" 😆😆😆 I mean... if your buddies can't give you a little shit, who can? lol. In the end... these are just material things and no one got hurt or anything but... don't get complacent. 😳

I like how you breakdown stuff and provide your thoughts and experience in the outings and I agree with you on having fun but also provide good information that’s useful and not over the top for show only. Since I know your in that Mille lacs area that’s one of the big draw for me is to watch and get as much information about that area as it’s an area I haven’t come to explore enough so getting anything from that is awesome too many just click bait that area and just show the catches but no real information on what’s it’s really like! Thanks and Keepem coming!
