They can’t win because the land was never theirs to begin with. It was given to them by the western powers after WW2. If they decide to push too hard, they will be fighting a multi-front war with limited resources and the west would have to step in and save them, that would put the west in a very precarious position because we need the Arab states for oil. The funny thing about these discussions on the South and it’s honoring of history pertaining to the American Civil War is they never discuss the angering thing that really made the South want to succeed in the first place.It wasn’t slavery all by its lonesome,loathsome nature as a reason,no ,it was about trade and money to be made by each of the combatants that led to decisions of War.

The reason why Ukraine and Israel is treated differently is the fact that too many people only see power imbalance as the measure of right and wrong.

No one is camping on university campuses over how Russia is propagating its war in Ukraine (and its more than clear the goal is civilian casualties) but protestors are screaming over Israel's propagation of the War against Hamas. First of all, you don't teach history through monuments lining the main street of a town. You teach history through books through reading and through education. Also, to correct Bill, NO not everyone participated in slavery and not everyone thought it was ok. Even in the backwards and barbaric societies of long ago, there were people who knew that slavery was immoral and wrong.
