Bree, I just wanna cry when I saw your video. I have alopecia areata and basically have the same issue and almost same experience as you. I am also getting prescribed methotrexate and very anxious.

Hi Breena, I have AA and it's presenting like alopecia universalis now. My doc recommended 1 month prednisone and then 6 months of methotrexate. Did you derm discuss relapse rates? Apparently, relapse is high, but it could be years and vary from person to person. I'm concerned about the drug side effects, but may try it. Thanks for sharing. Any update past the 3 month mark?

Hi Ryan! I just updated a new video with my success with methotrexate! However, I did relapse a few months after, but my stress levels were very high.

Did you face hair loss in your 1st 3 weeks using Methotrexate and Folic Acid?

No, my hair came back. I didn't experience hair loss from methotrexate. I know some people say they have experienced hair loss with it, but it essentially reversed my immune system that makes my hair fall out.

Breena, do you follow Autoimmune Protocol Diet or just Methotrexate with Folic Acid?

I haven't tried APD yet, but I am planning to start it soon. I was just on methotrexate and Folic Acid. I'm sure hair growth would come back faster with a healthy diet added on to the drugs too!

Congrats Breena, Our 12yr old daughter here in Australia just started taking Methotrexate this weekend for the first time. She has been having steroid injections for the past year but it was not enough to keep pace with the hair loss. I showed her your videos and its great for her to see and hear a positive story about it working for you.

I have not tried minoxidil but I have heard that it works well with alopecia!

Are you using oral cortisone as weel or methotrexate alone ? And when did you notice the hair regrowing?

I take the Methotrexate with 1mg of Folic Acid. I have gotten the cortisone shots in my scalp while on it one time & it grew much faster! I have never tried oral cortisone before though!

I was wondering do you shed a ton? I have alopecia I have many spots but I see a ton of thinning but no new spots so I am confused

Hi Annika, I do shed a lot, especially when I shower. Alopecia is a weird thing because you can’t track where it is going to go next in your head. I don’t really notice when I shed and new spots until I go into the doctor and he goes through my hair!

Some of my spots stay the same size for a longgggg time! But getting my injections and now my methotrexate has been helping the regrowth a lot!
