What's the difference between Dystonia, Spasticity and Rigidity?
@MrsTimishaTrossАй бұрын
Dystonia is characterized by involuntary muscle contractions leading to abnormal postures or movements. Spasticity involves increased muscle tone causing stiffness and spasms. Rigidity is stiffness and resistance to movement in muscles, often associated with Parkinson's disease. Each has distinct features and underlying causes, though they can sometimes coexist or overlap in conditions like cerebral palsy or Parkinson's

I almost failed FW2 due to incompatabikity with the FW preceptor. I worked my butt off to try and prove myself. She passed me with a C. The who experience was horrible. I did it at a SNF that was primarily white. I am a blk male and encountered racism and sexism which made doing my job almost impossible. My FW instructor (who was a wht female btw), either truly didn't understand my situation or she was prejudiced and didn't care about my struggle. I think it was both.

Quick question.... What is the ratio of the time for each? Should the amount of time for the hot and cold be the same or?
@barbiecoodie43352 ай бұрын
Like when ur dipping the desired body part? If its 4 mins for the hot should it also be 4 mins for the cold basin?
@MrsTimishaTross2 ай бұрын
Its best practice to have a consistent time frame. It is also based on yout patient's tolerance. With that said the time can fluctuate. BUT usually immersion into HOT is longer than COLD and it can range with a 4:1 ratio. 4 minutes hot, 1 minute cold.

It's worth noting that in the next 10-20 years, the "boomer" generation will inevitably need assisted living services. This generation is almost twice the size of the current assisted living population, with an estimated 70 million people. That means twice the number of individuals will require medical support and accommodation in assisted living facilities in just one generation alone. It is unclear how the big picture affects Occupational Therapy Assistants, as some insurance companies are reducing referrals and funding. For example, Medicaid has reduced payment for physician services under the fee schedule. But the need is definitely there!

If you want free workers you can always be a feeder farm for cota students doing clinicals too. I did a rotation at a sensory gym where there was one cota and 2 speech therapists on staff. Everyone else was an OT or Cota student. Im talking like 7 or 8 students doing all the treatments. The owner would just sign all the students evals and tens lol, pretty much never there and raking in bank off 75% free labor.

Similar strategy for the most part, and a orthosis meant for the knee.

Thank you for this video! I’m currently a OTAS. I don’t see many videos in regards to OTAS. Also, do you believe OTA positions will phase out. That’s been my biggest concern! Please can you do more OTA related videos! Thank You! ✨

Just as long as we continue to advocate for the OTA profession it will continue. I believe it will change and the numbers will drop so its vital to continue to be educated and specialize. I will contine to produce more OTA content. Anything particular you had in mind?
