It's the first time I notice how much the e-minor section in the second half is so close to a similar passage in Beethoven's trio op. 1 no. 2, 2nd movement! Have you heard it?

Ik ben heel blij met deze opname. De première vond plaats in april 1940. Het werd uitgevoerd door het Klein Orkest onder leiding van Frieda Belinfante. Solist was Juup Raphael. Plaats van handeling Kleine zaal Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Zoals bekend vielen de Duitsers in mei Nederland binnen. In de loop der tijd werden Joden geweerd van de podia. Leo Smit is op 30 april 1943 samen met zijn vrouw Lientje vermoord in Sobibor. Ik ben van mening dat dit een zeer belangrijk stuk is in de altviool literatuur. Mooi gespeeld!
