I get how you printed double sided, and I know this is probably a simple question but how did you get different images on the back? Normally if I were to print double asides it would be the same image on both sides.

Some printers print on both sides, other wise you can print on the opposite side of the page by printing one at a time, and reinserting the page but flipped. This takes practice so do simple prints as a test

Great review! Looking at getting one of these for graphic design projects. I got so used to printing 11x17 for book making back on campus that it’s been hard going back to a standard printer where I can’t get a full bleed now that I have graduated. It’s a pain going back and forth to the printers so I just have not been designing anything large format lately. I also knew I wanted an inkwell printer for the long term economics. I want my only major expense to be the paper I am feeding into it. This one seemed to fit all of that criteria at a reasonable (compared what is available that can print 12x18) cost.

Major thumbs up. Sooooooo many sources for "how to make comics" were about... how to draw, or had people looking in to 6500$ printers..... Instead of just a simple, fairly affordable, DIY project for a small business. I mean seriously, most indie artists aren't looking to compete with freaking DC and Marvel! Great video!

I bought my Epson ET 8550 for $699 CAD and paid $150 for 4 year total parts and labour or replacement warranty on everything, including the print head.

You can adjust the height of the print head to prevent head strikes and smudging. It’s in the Setup Menu on the printer control panel. I own this fantastic printer and I can print successfully on all types of media.

Came here since ive managed to spend £500 on trying to do this myself. Never looked into it first......... used all my ink on 4 pages as stated a3. And did a few pages upside down on the back page 😢

I have this printer but for some reason my prints and stickers never seem that high quality :/ I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Wish I could return it honestly but it’s too late now.

Maybe to low DPI. Try upping DPI to 300 or maybe 800

Do you know that there is a setting that allows you to set the printer for thick paper and avoid smearing on the borders? Also, you can set custom paper sizes in the printer driver, directly, no need for another software... Maybe you should do a little more thorough research beforehand... ;-) Also, this printer has a hybrid ink system. The black ink is a pigment ink, the photo black (PB ink) is dye ink, as are the other colors. So it is possible to use the 2 blacks when using the special B&W printing mode in the driver. With a little work, this printer can produce some real nice B&W art prints. Of course, some other printers may be faster and better quality, but this one is *very* good at this price point. I've had the smaller version (ET-8550) for 3 months now, and the photos I print are just fantastic. As other mentioned, some paper may curl with the humidity of the ink and make contact with the print head, hence the smudges. Try different paper brands and/or weight to find the one that is best for this usage. So far, I've never had any issues regarding smudges. Anyway, that's a good choice of a printer and your comics look really cool!

I really appreciate this video, however I have one problem. The printer I’ve been using is the same you’ve been using as well as the same glossy paper, but for some reason the colors on mine smear and there are thin white streaks. I’m still trying to reconfigure the printer to fix the streak issue, but I have no idea why the gloss is smearing the way it is. Is there any setting I’m missing that’s making the ink not stick properly? Thank you

Hi! Thank you for the video. I am a bookbinder and I’m considering buying this print for my projects. I have a laser printer as I mostly bind novels or planners (5-15 a month), but considering adding some colours, maybe magazines or even photo albums, but probably my work will still be 70% just text, 30% graphs and photos. Is this printer good for that? Will I waste ink or printing books will take too long or make the black runs out super faster? I haven’t found anyone talking about text printing on this printer. It’s hard to find information online. Thanks a lot!

Does this printer print 8 1/2 by 11 documents? I'm wanting to get this to print my manuscripts for editing and for my external binder. I plan on getting this in April so if you could answer my question before then, I would really appreciate it.
