We had that happen on our rig bout 25 yrs ago. Made the guy hang around and fish it out w/overshot. Told him NP, happens all the time, it was all overtime til we git it out. When he got it out two days later, he was fired on the spot. No pay. He tried to drop it back in, but we were ready for that.

I have 0 knowledge in this area, it just popped up on the front page. I can tell by the body language it was a massive fuck up right? If so how badly? Was the guy suppose to hold the pipe and then release it? How far down does it go? How do you get it out? Is he fired? so many questions!

I heard someone say they have to call out a special crew to retrieve it, or they have to drill a new hole. Either way it costs a lot of time and money and the person responsible probably gets fired.
