It haw to be changed to fix it A stacked system would work wealthy people need their own savings and tax incentives. Longer waits may be necessary and people not collecting benefits that aren't citizens is essential . I wouldn't mind changing SS and Disability if necessary. Where does the surplus SS go? My mother only collected hers for a short time.Government shouldn't borrow against it either. If you didn't work the credits should be lower but you'd need a low income way of living.

I agree on a lot of this, however, ANY ROI on a SS payment is MORE than he government is going to pay you. The bottom line is the money is making money that it won't make if your using it for living expense. That said, there are tax exempt and tax free annuity options as well, the only drawback is level of buy in and acceptable percentage rates. It is all math, most of it simple. However, this last few generations of retirees are woefully ignorant of money and how to save it properly or how to guard it. Which is why guys like you are so necessary.

The problem is that almost no one will save money from their paycheck over their lifetime. That is the difference between somebody like the government doing it for you. I filed at 65 and I have been very happy and now I am coming up on my 90th birthday.

Um…. 🙄 Actually your title page shows a picture of #45 = why are you promoting the greatest fraudster ever known in our country’s Presidency?!? And you tend to portray the other presidents as never doing something about SS…. So, Here is The Hand 🖐️🖐️🖐️ Instead, your viewers should be looking at the unbalanced wealth factor in our country. I have noticed for decades that most hourly wages have become relatively less and less, while most of the upper heads of companies get exponentially higher pay and Hugh bonuses. The wealthy also have Hugh tax loopholes. The SS has relatively speaking small income caps. So people making less = less going to the SS fund. And small SS limits on large income = less going to the SS fund. And wealth being “hidden” in the income/tax loopholes that only apply to wealthy incomes = less going to the SS fund. That’s just one of the many issues that are whittling down the SS fund. And guess which political party keeps holding up helpful bills - ones that address the multi fold aspects of what impacts the SS fund & its service administration? GOP and others who blatantly demonize SS. So…. 🖐️🖐️🖐️

Shouldn't people who make while working making above 168K pay MORE into Soc Sec? Seems backward that "the poor" pay into the Soc Sec Insurance rather than higher income people.

As a soon retiree, keeping my 401k on course after a rocky 2022 is top priority. I have been reading of lnvestors making up to 250k ROI in this current crashing market, any recommendations to scale up my ROI before retirement will be highly appreciated.

Having an lnvestment advser is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near retirees, I've been in touch with a coach for awhile now mostly cause I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with these recurring market conditions, I nettd over $220K so far, that made it clear there's more to the market that we avg joes don't know

Not hyperbolic statement’s, but irrefutable facts. 1968 U.S. Nuremberg, & Nazi Guns laws Nuremberg, & Nazi gun laws, that name has ring to it. Hey Alex, {Trebek, former / late game show host of Jeopardy.} I’ll take corrupt North East Coast U.S. Senators who like Nazi gun laws, and some who like to make human sandwich’s with other corrupt North East Coast U.S. Senators, for a $1000.00. Thomas Joseph Dodd {Senior} became vice chairman of the Board of Review and later executive trial counsel for the Office of the United States Chief of Counsel for the Prosecution of Axis Criminality at Nuremberg, Germany, in 1945 and 1946. He practiced law privately in Hartford, Connecticut, from 1947 to 1953. U.S. Senator Thomas Joseph Dodd, (May 15, 1907 - May 24, 1971) the father of U.S. Senator {1981 to 2011} for Connecticut, Christopher Dodd. In 1967 [Thomas Joseph] Dodd {Senior} became the first Senator censured {Slapped on the wrist} by the US Senate since Joseph McCarthy in 1954, and was one of only six people censured by the Senate in the 20th century. Issues: Personal use of campaign funds; standards of conduct for (United States) senators. Chronology Request for committee investigation: Feb. 23, 1966 Committee report: Apr. 27, 1967 Resolution introduced: Apr. 27,1967 Senate vote: June 23, 1967 Result: Censured (Kicked out of office, was allowed to finish out his elected term.) As chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency, [Thomas Joseph] Dodd {Senior} worked to restrict the purchase of mail order handguns, and later shotguns and rifles. These efforts culminated in the Gun Control Act of 1968, which {Thomas Joseph} Dodd {Senior} introduced, including certain registration requirements. Zimring, Franklin E. (1975). “Firearms and Federal Law: The Gun Control Act of 1968.” The Journal of Legal Studies. 4 (1): 133. ISSN 0047-2530. Nuremberg Trials. Both Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, chief prosecutor for the U.S., and {Thomas Joseph} Dodd {Senior,} insisted upon a fair and legal trial {in / at Nuremberg, Germany, in 1945 and 1946} to prosecute the Nazi war criminals.

Looking through the comments, I see why no recent politicians are seriously looking at a fix. Anything you do to resolve it, is going to anger 1/2 of the electorate. The same thing happened back in the 1980's last time it was going broke, we waited until the last minute to come up with a solution. I predict the same thing will happen, because then both parties can claim their changes "fixed it", and stay in office. Anything done right now would result in politicians off the dole, I mean out of work.

If you want to rebuild your retirement by yourself, without the help of a partner, I will tell you it is near impossible. Even NewRetirement and co can’t do the job of an FA with expertise, a large following/client base and experience. Vet and hire one and begin to develop a rapport.

I wholeheartedly concur; I'm 60 years old, just retired, and have about $1,250,000 in non-retirement assets. Compared to the whole value of my portfolio during the last three years, I have no debt and a very little amount of money in retirement accounts. To be completely honest, the information provided by invt-advisors can only be ignored but not neglected. Simply undertake research to choose a trustworthy one.

The taxation of Social Security began in 1984 following passage of a set of Amendments in 1983, which were signed into law by President Reagan in April 1983. These amendments passed the Congress in 1983 on an overwhelmingly bi-partisan vote.
