How about making a depression in the center and more coffee at edges? Or an extractable plug down the side under the paper. Great information

the only time i need rinsing is when i use flat bottom/wave filter, or origami dripper. when i master osmotic flow, (not really that level of japanese shokunin) i really dont need it, as osmotic flow is better when paper is still dry.

I love the Origami, which i finally just got yesterday. It brews very sweet cups. TALES COFFEE, here on KZbin, which uses the superior single pour, medium-fine grinds, and stirring wit a chopstick, loves the Origami the most as a coffee shop with many pour-over drippers and many other coffee brewers. Shalom. <3

Hey man, your recipe on screen is really incorrect! You have the wrong weight for the third pour, and your text says to leave the switch “open” on the third pour.

I've been having issues with my bloom. I'm not getting sweetness. I think your explanation and staying in the middle will change things. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks for the breakdown of the filter and showing results. Very good info!

this is why we steep? hold the water in the grounds for as long as you want. also when steeping, just give the grounds a stir.

It depends on what you like, if you like acidity and this one will be great, if you more prefer stronger bitter taste then this one might not be your choice

This was a great recipe , easy to follow. How to perform when making a larger cup, say 26 to 30 grams targeting between 450-500mL. I’ve been experimenting but I find the second pour doesn’t finish anywhere close to 1:30 more like 2:00 , then I close switch and pour rest. I’m done by 220 and find I still need to release almost immediately at 230 to hit the 400 min brew time. Any advice is appreciated!

Man my Clever has been my goto for years, and prefer the grinds over water technique. BUT just got a CHEAP Oxo single dripper. Only thing special is it innovative "reservoir" which has some holes in it. When you pour your hot water it controls the flow. This "topper" is very simple indeed and I am making fantastic coffee rivalling ANY other dripper, pour over device, and method I have yet to try. 17 bucks on the web.........OXO Brew Single Serve Pour-Over Coffee Maker, 12 ounces.......Oxo does a good job of making good enough products that aren't too spendy. Stoked on this new coffee toy!

I have the Kalita,Hario V60,Hario Switch and Origami. I no longer use the Kalita but the Kalita can be nice with Kenyan coffee I think to get a more balanced and deep cup. I choose the Origami with V60 most of the time for light roasted coffee to extract more out of the coffee and get a brighter cup and the Hario V60 when I have a more of a medium roasted coffee to get a lower extraction. I then also get a fantastic result with Hario Woodneck using Brazilian coffee or complex coffees from El Salvador and Nicaragua.

poke a hole with your finger in your coffee bed. start pouring as fast as your kettle can. into the hole in the middle. once it is full, start pouring in circles. 3-4 x weight of coffee. let it drip - 30-60 sec. bloom guide in 5 seconds done.

Using your method with my current Java Planet Guatemala Organic medium roasted beans, I find I get a better cup of coffee than just using a bloom pour-through stage and then immersion. Thank you. I've learned that water temperature is more important than I previously realized. As you suggest, I think 92-93 degrees is usually about right for my medium roasted beans. For most dark roasted beans I need to go even lower to avoid excessive bitterness.

love my hario switch v60 maximizing the full potential of every coffee beans by utilizing its dual brewing method. and im not suggesting this for the beginners for it needs a lot of tools and attention to details to be able to use it properly.

Lately I have been using the copper plated Kalita Wave for the most part and have been enjoying medium roasts more than dark roasts with it. I also have the ceramic 155 Wave. I think it gives better results but I like to brew more coffee than that. All that said, I am probably going to go back to French Press as I can make a lot of coffee and get, in my opinion, better results.

I've been doing pour over for about two months now and am looking to upgrade to a better dripper. With your help I've leaning toward a Kalita. You recommend the stainless steel over the ceramic. Is that mostly for durability? Once I get my skill level maximized will both drippers produce the same tasting coffee? Thanks for your videos, they have been a great help! I'm a new subscriber, please keep making more coffee videos!

I ended up finding really good deals on the Kalita ceramic wave and the brass Kalita wave. The heat retention difference is quite pronounced, just like you said. I like the coffee that I'm getting from both brewers but I think the ceramic Wave yields smoother, richer coffee. Thanks again for your help!

for the water part, usually I use mineral water due to accessibilty and it's cost-effective. I could've distilled my tap water one day ahead but it's too much work to do. i don't know. i'm not running a coffee shop just a hobbist or a home brewer. but over-all, the video is very constructive and informative as you always do. keep it up.
