There's something I noticed about the drums in this mission: you start out attacking merchant ships to the sound of wadaiko (Japanese timpanies) and in this moment, you're the aggressor. It's around the ten minute mark-after the ambush with the kamikazes-that you get the distress call from the fleet. Your vessels are now on the defensive and that's when final third act opens up to the sound of American snare drums. So the percussion not only steals the show, it represents the defiance shown by both Navies. Two military powers, USA versus the Empire of Japan. You sunk the japanese merchant ships and now American destroyers are on the rope. And right at the end, when you run out of ammo, the F4 Corsairs fly in deus ex machina-style and that sound of horns represent another victory for America in the Pacific

My version of the game came with a 2 CD soundtrack, but the Valentinos track isn't in it. This and the Character creation menu music are my favorite background tracks in the game. In the game however I hear more moments of the "woman sharply inhaling", which always briefly unnerves me until I realize it's part of the music.

even though this mission was in the ww2 era, it was one of the best bo1 missions, the ww2 guns, the story behind it, the gameplay, and the badass soundtrack, ive played this mission of ton of times.

After all this years I still return and listen to this songs they are beyond master piece, every part has its own emotion.. I wish we see that on modern games but non the less its perfect.

I noticed that when switching between some of the turrets on the water, you can see Locke flinch as rounds go right through the plane in front of him. Also, while rescuing sailors, you can occasionally hear one yell at the top of his lungs: "Oh God! Get me out of here! I don't wanna die!" Pretty chilling. Everything about this mission is just so god damned good.
