Hello , thank you so much for this video .I'm getting my cornea transplant on the 2nd of October. I'm so afraid but I'm a take your advice and think positive..bless

how is your eye now? This is the only solution i have been given in uk to go for a transplant if i cant wear contact lenses. With hard contact lens i can see fine but at times it becomes really irritating and restricts me of doing so much stuff. I have had kerataconus for 6 years now and wearing hard rigid lens as well as soft lens underneath (two lens in one eye other eye is fine), that i have come to a point to just want to get rid of contact lens and need a permanent fix. i researched alot and because of the risks involved in cornea transplant i am so hesitant to go for this. I took a second opinion from pakistan hospital and they said i can still go for 1) topographical guided prk or 2) intercorneal ring segments. I am thinking to go for one of the solutions in pakistan as i am so scared with the corneal transplant to even imagine what will happen if my body refuses the transplant cornea in future i will be blind. Has anyone had corneal transplant done in uk? apparently i have been told it will only be done under nhs not sure how long is the waiting time.

I got my surgery in 2018z everything you said I went through. lol I will be needing a transplant on my other eye now. Ughhh starting over again lol

Thanks for making this video. I am 22 and got diagnosed with kerakotonus in both eyes when I was around 20. And the drs say I can’t have a transplant until I’m around 30 and that my eye may still reject it even if the operation is successful. So am sure this video will help and hopefully make me feel Abit better. I can’t drive due to kerakotonus and it broke me. I have a severe case of kc. My left is severely blurred and my right eye is okay for now and I pray my right eye doesn’t get as bad as my left cus I would be fucked even more if that happens… 🙏🏻🤞🏻

How are things going now? I had corneal crosslinkjng April 2023 in my left eye. It was super painful for 12 hours. I feel like the last two weeks my eyes are getting blurry again.

My dad gave his corneas when he passed away in November. I got the donor certificate and they said I could send a letter to the recipients. I want to send something but I’m scared because I feel like I have researched so many transplant rejections and I don’t want to assume everything went well and sound ignorant. Any advice?

Thank you Ashley I have credit cards they're thinking about scleral lenses. The transplant is the last resort but if I have to do that you made me feel a lot better do me a favor and just keep on being you❤

Had corna transplant 30yrs ago both eyes ,get another transplant Dec 4th don't fear the surgery it will find.

I just had the surgery last week. I am hoping my body does not reject the transplant. This was most definitely an experience. I have not experienced any pain even directly after surgery.

Man your story is just like mine .I started getting blurred vision and ghosting .it got worse after a while so I went to get a exam for glasses and they t couldn’t fit me .I had to stop driving at night .went to specialist and he told me I had kc and sent me to contact specialists and now I wear lenses and might need a partial transplant soon .

I love you so much. I have had the worst kerato conus my whole life. And i did the full Penetrating Keroplasty on 2 december 2022. They operated the right eye. Sooo day one was like fucked up because you cant really open the eye fully soo if you keep the eye shut the pain is less. After 3 days the pain will go away but the vision will be blurry. Its day 11 now and i dont have any pain my eyes are like very white and no red or anything infact it looks more white than before hahahaha. My vision is improving slowly i can say that im vert sceptical about the improvement but to be honest its already better than before and i think if they put a sclera on the right eye the vision might become perfect. But idk if i can do it without a lens but yet again its just day 11 and the dokter said wait atleast 3 months to judge the vision.

Hi Ashley I have Keratoconus since I was about 15, I am in my late 50s now. I had a transplant in my left eye in 1990, easy operation and stitches in my eyes for 12 months. to this day I still have a partial stitch in my eye. It took many years for my specialist to let me wear contact lens in the eye again. But hey I have much better sight now, the right eye still is corrected with a hard lens. So overall I am a happy guy. Oh back in the 80s I was fitted with a shell, a contact lens the whole size of the eye. Nasty I would never recommend that only one positive, you won't lose it swimming lol

I got my transplant on 9/19/22 & I did notice a difference with clarity almost immediately! That said, my vision is still blurry but it's getting better by the day

What an encouraging video for all. I have had keratoconus in my right eye for over 20 years. Was wearing gas permeable lenses but now it's worse, so I've been keen to go for DMEK. I have been scared about blindness at times but not so much about surgery. Love when you said "you aren't alone". Means a lot to me. I heard recently that if we had infrared eyes we could see the rings around Neptune! Technology will only improve for this crazy disease. Surgery sounds worth any recovery pain. Thanks 🧐

I just had my eye doc. refer me to the cornea people and go in Sep2022 for our first talk. You have something I have spent, youth. I am 81 and have put off as long as I could doing this. I have Fuch's dyst. Enjoyed meeting you. You are quite pleasant and fun to listen to. Did you have any trouble from your local DMV during healing?
