The only other modern passenger car to use a spur-gear differential is the OLDSMOBILE Toronado. But I wonder, have you heard of any others? It's actually perfect for East/West front-wheel-drive vehicles. It might have made a comeback if it weren't for electric vehicles.

Race against others! Not sure what the formula is in the UK but in the US we build with the same wheels and 6.5 hp engine and the rest just needs to fit the aesthetic “intent” of the hobby. All pretty evenly matched.

next time you bend frame rails, fill them with sand. it sounds crazy but it prevents some of the 'puckering' I know there are some who are going to whine about that being for chrome molly tubing, but it works the same with everything.

Thanks for sharing. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out. I'm assuming it's a 'fun' project and won't be road legal. I think the look of the pre-war Bugatti is beautiful and if you manage to capture half that look you'll have succeeded.

Hi Brake conversions have been done in the 60's and it was found that the axle eyes became oval and sometimes bent and fractured the kingpins. Father improved the brakes on the old ruby by putting a girling back axle on with girling back brakes and doing a bowdenex conversion to the front. Things may have changed 60 odd years on. Just something to keep in mind Cheers John

You done the best thing by fitting that little pocket rocket Reliant engine you can gain 6bhp by just modifying the inlet manifold with a few tools go on reliant net.The acceleration is unbelievable and obtaining 60bbl is relatively easy to get do it !!
@nbrowne733 жыл бұрын
Yes ive seen that mod to the inlet manifold , although im not using the standard manifold, am in the process of making up a manifold to take twin su's, as the webber carb i intended to use did not work well...

@@nbrowne73 Great certainly mount horizontally for better bonnet line plus a 3 branch manifold it will out accelerate most cars to 50mph with ease just make sure you can stop it !!

@@bertiewooster3326 well the carbs will have a slight upward angle to clear the exhaust manifold, and i will probable have to knock up a new bonnet !, it stops just fine with the morris minor brakes..

It will fly with the reliant engine but will you be able to stop it ! However, putting all the relays and electrics in the bowels of the car is not a good idea keep the car simple for That is the essence of success in a special.Consider ditching 17inch wheels for wider 15inch on Austin hubs .I know.
@nbrowne733 жыл бұрын
Hi well yes it dose go well with the reliant engine and the 17" wheels , and the brakes work well as if you have seen my other videos i have made up hydraulic brakes useing morris minor parts, if i stand on the brakes all 4 wheels will lock up ,
@chrishenniker5944 Жыл бұрын
@@nbrowne73Have you ever considered a disc brake setup? You could get a better wheel selection in the bargain, such as chrome reverse wheels or Cragars.

Astonishing to me that a cheap mass-produced car would have a cast alloy steering-wheel. It wouldn't look out of place on an Alfa or Maserati of the era. And self-cancelling indicators? What year is that fitting from?
