I always use a sharpie on the back to mark the direction of the fur and I comb the fur towards the sender at the seams for a fluffier finish.

Omg! TY for being so descriptive with the different steps to this pattern. I followed along with a different lady and I was so lost. She wasn’t very descriptive, she was busy babbling with whoever was filming and she just ran through the steps … only suggestion I have, only cause I couldn’t understand completely was the last steps of putting the lining on over everything. It took me a few times watching the videos and then pinning and looking to finally figure it out. But it turned out so great.. been sewing for over 30 years and i still make mistakes…lol… thanks again..

@@beckielloyd8321 I’m so glad this helped you! Thank you for the feedback as well. The lining is such a tricky part so I tried to do it the best I could figure out but if I make another video of this backpack I will be sure to elaborate on that section. I hope your backpack gets lots of use 😊

My biggest beef is i always see people sewing steaight thru the material without tucking the fibers inside the work. Doing this routinely as you pin/clip your pieces together, then usin a soft brush will more effectively blend seams on the final product! I just use my finger to 'poke' the fur out of the way of the seam to ensure its all laying flat to itself so nothing is sticking out where it belongs.

@@PenumbralBehemoth love this idea! When I made my jacket I would sew the seams then use a comb to bring the fibers out but that’s a great way to do it! Thanks for sharing! Im going to try it that way next time!

@@Sewemmydesigns yep! I've made a few fursuits and various costume parts with faux fur over the years and im very particular about my seams. Best of luck! (i just hate the look of fibers getting trapped in the stitches!)

No problem! Let me know if this is easier, basically at that point in the video you should have two legs of your shorts. We want to turn one of the inside out (the correct side of the fabric is facing inside) and have the other one with right side facing out. Then you will slide one shorts leg into the other and pin the curved opening as seen at 1:10 I will try to do a short video later this week to go slower through it. Let me know if that helps some though!

@@etoiledemer7472 this follows a similar concept but is a different foot! A roller foot can be used for heavier knit fabrics but is normally composed of a “roller” near the front and two at the back to help feed fabric through. This just has the one motion to help move the fabric through. This foot is good for light to medium weight knits. A roller foot would still be ideal for heavy weights. Let me know if that helps!

My art teacher has a sensory corner. I'm in high school, so it feels silly and nobody goes there (we have stuff like a wiggle mat lol), but I appreciate the effort and know at least one kid will benefit.

Fabric sensory squares are similar to an idea of a fidget spinner except made of fabric and can be quieter. These can be created for those who are neurodivergent as a way to help calm them down. The fabric texture can provide a calming experience, and then there is a maze pattern sewn into the top of the fabric which allows you to move the marble through. This can then be a quiet task to help focus and not get overstimulated!

Girl. If you do a video talking about that above average quality plate that helps with more sizes of seam allowance, it would be wise to not then act like you need some extra ruler to help a few shorts later. Just say it's an ad!🤦♀️

So, do you mean working with things that end up on the right of the needle? You have one of the best plates I've seen that has a bunch of measurements provided, so I'm confused why you need a guide when your machine has one built in. 🤔

For quilting sometimes you want directional fabrics and other times you don't want it. I love skirts but rarely wear them. Living in a windy climate doesn't work so well.

Hi, do you have more details of how you made the fabric face the same way? I'm looking to sew a handkerchief skirt from directional fabric but can't work out how I need to cut it!

@@ruthturner5780 hey! So for my fabric I picked how I wanted it to be laid out, then started the folding process to get the circular top. I then mirrored this for the back piece so that the birds in my fabric would be facing the same way.
