I would suggest find R22 refrigerant online. Buy it, yes it is expensive but not too expensive as to replace the entire system. Whatever remains keep it for future usage and until you ac breaks. Then you have no choice.

Hello people I have several questions about converting a R22 system to any other new refrig type. Q1. Must I have the compresser replaced in order to convert the system? Been told this must be done I have. 3.5 ton goodman scroll compresser condensing unit. The compresser was replaced 2 years ago. Q2. Must the line set be replaced as well? Q3. My goodman air handler says R22/R410 compatible. 3.5 ton as well Q4. How much approx should I expect to pay for this service? Thanks
@dallas695 жыл бұрын
No Converting a R22 system to R422D 1) I read 95% polyolester oil (POE) and 5% mineral (old R22 oil) is OK. 2) POE oil is hygroscopic that means the oil should be pumped in and the oil can should not be opened to the air. But great work this is almost unknown by local Hvac companies here in DFW Thank You As a Hvac engineer Open compressor via removing the valve stem. Insert a rubber tube down to the bottom of the compressor Suck out 95% the old R22 mineral oil. Pump in new POE oil Re install valve stem. Purge with dry N2. Vac the system Charge with R422D. Pulling the compressor is not necessary. POE is a better oil for your HVAC system. If your going to change out R22 then it is better to suck out 95 to 100% of the old R22 mineral oil and start fresh with POE.

Why do it when you can use this refrigerant or RS44b which is also a direct drop in?
@ryanmalin2 жыл бұрын
I've got many rack systems and air conditioners running with r422d and mineral oil and so far no issues. Retrofit was carried out in 2016 and its been 6 yrs with mineral oil.

is that true that aticat insulation should not be used in an empty attic? in other words, in order to use aticat blown insulation you have to have prior old insulation in the attic.
