Great to see a traditional craft in our throw away culture. I've learnt over passed couple of years having restored some 1936 RAF flying boots all by hand including outsole stitches and welt. One thing I struggle to find is the gemming tape or feathering tape for the welt. As it's a hobby for me I don't have access to wholesale which is a pain.

Please use the strap when you hammer new soles😮
@MrBurtonshaw Жыл бұрын
Lovely job, If you dampen the soles for half an hour with wet kitchen towel, when you slick the soles, if you go at it hard enough you can almost not only press down any stitch marks, but partially close the stitching channel.. and the soles will look like glass. Lovely slugging pattern on the heels too.

Andy and crew restored my much loved vintage Bass Weejuns to better than factory new. I'll never use anyone else, ever again. Just a brilliant craftsman !

I love Loakes, they feel a good quality shoe at a reasonable price. It's nice to know that my shoes can be repaired rather than thrown away.

That is easily a $350.00 upgrade on those. To get a standard sole replacement on my Iron Rangers is $175.00,. That is fantastic artwork you performed on those shoes.👍

Most entertaining and informative. Thanks from Iceland, where leather soled shoes are not a great idea for 6 months of the year! Dainite rubber soles on my various Loake brogues do the job though. Great channel.

This is truly amazing work. Just an artist at work. The thing that ruins it for me is leaving the old nails that held the heel on. Why not just hammer them out and remove.

I got interested in leather care and shoe repair videos because I wanted to learn how to maintain my leather golf shoes. So this video was a dream come true!! It was fantastic and so informative. You made those shoes better and longer lasting with your devoted work. And at 110 pounds you created a masterpiece that will last for many more years. I'm sure the customer was delighted.

Also, that's a gorgeous boot with the vibrams on there. They were made for each other.
@mikeisgettinupset3 жыл бұрын
Did you put any acetone on the vibram sole to get rid of any of the excess oil on it before putting the glue on? I noticed you didn't rough it up.
@IngmansCobblerFootwearClothing3 жыл бұрын
Hi Les, we did rough soles up, guess the film crew didn’t think it was interesting enough 😀

These are my sandals!! I loved the bronze leather so much and they reminded me of my holiday in Sorrento where I bought them, made to measure as I have a high instep. Hopefully, I will get another two years out of them. Good job!
