My cousins are Dan, Dave, Lexi, Selma, Miles, and Cleo and when I went up to Alaska i was planning on going fishing and all this other stuff but Sunday they were like hey we are going to church want to come and I was like sure why not. Because I have never been to a Christian church and it was out side and I learned a lot from it. And ever since then I have been wanting to go to a church. But my family does not go to any church. So I am so so so glad you do this because I do not have a church were I live. So thanks again for doing this.

Hey, we're glad you were able to spend some time with us when you were visiting family and enjoying Alaska! And we're happy you're enjoying video messages; what a blessing it is that people everywhere can enjoy God's word together, even when they can't come to church! Blessings! ~pastor cale

Love and condolences to Kent and his family. Wishing you joyful memories of a life well lived. So sorry that the live stream cut off. We are hoping there is a full video version that the church can post.

It's a beautiful chancel... but I wonder why he isn't vested. The business suit clashes with the liturgical setting.

Pastor Cale here...thanks for the compliment on our chancel! It is a nice place to worship. As far as the vestments go, I've been playing around with wearing them intermittently since I got to Christ in Juneau. AK has a little bit more laid back atmosphere and wanted to make sure I was aware of that. We also had a (relatively) blazing summer and I got into the habit of not vesting to stay cool. Don't be afraid to shoot any more questions you might have my way!

No vestments? I don't mind, just asking.

Glad you noticed! I've been playing around with wearing them on and off since Juneau, AK has a little more of a laid back kind of atmosphere. I'm often the only guy wearing a collared shirt on Sundays! This last summer got pretty warm by AK standards, so I also did it to stay cool (the sun bakes by back in the summer). I can't use that as an excuse any more though... Feel free to shoot me any more questions you might have!

@@calemeadable I shared your video on my Facebook page and some self-proclaimed defenders of the "Lutheran tradition" almost crucified me... Your not wearing a robe is a "deliberate provocation", "an offense against the 500 years of the Lutheran traditions", etc. No use of explaining that it is an adiaphora, etc. Had to do some unfriending, LOL...

This camera position works better, and the sound is going in the right direction. You'll still need to fix that atrocious organ sound though. The service as such is great.

Great service, audio still needs some fixing.

I am WELS and live in Tennessee. Had to stay home and watch my daughter who's got a bad virus. Thankful I found your church service from last week to watch this morning.

This was a wonderful sermon and Sierra and I were blessed to have the opportunity to watch it...with our family members being sick. We couldn't hear the singing just the piano, but Pastor Andrew came out clear. What a wonderful way to begin our day...thank you and blessings!

The tributes by Jim's sons are beautiful and so touching. The pastor did a great job. I enjoyed his remarks a lot. Thank you for this unique opportunity to "be there." I'm a long-time Jim Barker fan and will miss his presence forever. Lynda, I loved you two as a couple. The mutual love, support, and admiration was apparent in many different ways, and I enjoyed it whenever I saw it. What a guy.
