Southwell & Nottingham may well be a lively Diocese, but the Dean is mistaken in her claim that it is a 'growing' one - it is simply untrue. It is, in fact, shrinking dramatically. The Church of England's own statistics for the years 2002 to 2017 show a relentless decline in every measured area, as follows: All Age Average Weekly Attendance down 31% All Age Average Sunday Attendance down 32% - the figure of 13,600 represents just over 1% of the population of the Diocese Marriages down 41% Infant Baptisms down 46% Funerals down 45% The broader 'Worshipping Community' figure is also dropping fast - from 19800 in 2015 to 18600 in 2017.
