Tempo too slow? It´s NH‘s interpretative approach, nothing more! So please no complaining: love it or leave it, it‘s just that simple!

Fine performance totally spoilt by the video editor. He/she seemed to think the viewer wants a constantly changing picture. This is actually most infuriating, as there is no time to study the detail of any of the shots. Finger twitchitiss!

A number of years ago as I was driving east on an interstate highway in Colorado there was a large thunderhead cloud bank some 50+ miles ahead and the was lighting the clouds up. I had the Berlin Symphony's recording of this on my CD player. As the music would reach the part (14.11) the clouds would light up from the lightening and it seemed as if the storm was following the music. I was awe struck then, and 20 years later still see it in my mind. Will carry that memory for rest of my life.

I just saw this opera in Cologne, and the program brochure praised Handel's Orlando as a masterpiece. Can someone explain why this piece is a masterpiece? Or is it enough that each old master is called legendary and each of their works a masterpiece?
