I have a Tow Trust towbar and everything works as it should, turning push into housing locks into place, but I can't lock with the key for some reason. They are right keys as they match up with the number on the lock. Any ideas why.

Not very helpful with standard bar with some green and red marks... enable to figure out how to mount it and get fully fixed.

I just saw the electric deployment version of this tow bar for the evoque, and we are mad as hell in America! Our towbars are totally different. And I've never seen one that moves at the push of a button. 🤬

Thanks for the excellent informative video. Although We don't live locally, It enabled me to choose a suitable towbar. I chose the Tow trust bar, as it required very little trimming. It was necessary to remove part of the heat shield from behind the bumper and to 'shave' a little from the bumper. I used a heavy duty soldering iron. I would certainly recommend using a dedicated electrics kit and suggest it be worth shopping around as prices seem to vary significantly!

Do you have the Dynamic bumper like the red car in this video? If so, do you have any photos of what cut is required? I'm currently deciding between the Tow Trust and Westfalia and have looked everywhere but can't find one showing the cut from the ground up with the tow bar detatched. Thanks

@@jameswalker7874 Sorry James, Mine is the prestige bumper. I think the trick is to offer the bumper up, several times and only remove what is necessary. Good luck with your decision.

I don't think so, you would probably be better off with a different system. These are meant to be easily removable and then to be vertualy invisible. You wouldn't know that my Evoque had a towbar fitted!

Top firm especially if you have a motabity car that needs a tow bar fitting they give you a dedicated wiring system so you know nothing will go wrong.

This is a super helpful video, so helpful I bought the towbar and had it installed! It's amazing how well it disappears. Anyways, my mechanic is having difficulty telling the S5 there's a hitch installed (it's unusual to install this towbar on an S5 over here in the USA so his usual go to people don't know either). He knows all the modules he needs to toggle (I think they're listed in the install guide, but without the codes). Any chance you could share the codes? Thanks in advance for any response.

don't buy this product. the handle broke after a few months of use. not i have a permanent towbar. and no warranty..

Excellent demonstration, however, no mention is made of the initial position of the top bolt. If this is showing then you cannot insert the towbar. It would be extremely helpful to show this correct and incorrect stage of this bolt and how to reset it. (a forceful twist of the blue knob pressing in and turning clockwise) Witter instructions (and vocabulary ) are not helpful in this respect if you do get it correct.

After struggling for 20 minutes trying to attach the tow bar, I came across this incredibly helpful explanation of how to set the internal bolt BEFORE inserting the towbar. So simple, but not explained in the video. Many thanks.

Hi, if you mean the earlier model with a spare wheel underneath then, I'm afraid the answer is no, we don't have a detachable like this listed. Sorry.

maybe you can help me mate. i have a skoda octavia i just bought 2nd hand. it has a big gangly towbar on the back,& looking at the back of the car,to the right of it,has a steel bar right next to it. its all rusty,but i think i see a key hole on the end of the short bar thing. i found a key in glove with 'Fab' stamped on it. do you think this is for removing tow-bar?Also,if it is,& its all rusty do you know how i can remove the detachable towbar,to sand it down etc? cheers

From your description, I think I have seen this type of towbar only once before and that was on an Octavia. It too was stuck in place and we didn't manage to release the detachable neck as we thought the chance of snapping the mechanism was too high. I can only suggest that you keep soaking the handle with penetrating oil. It does sound like the key is the correct one but can't be certain. I'm not too sure, but I think that handle may extend? Anyway, best of luck in getting the mechanism working again. I'm happy to say to any viewers of the Audi towbar that we don't get this problem with Westfalia products!
