Hey guys, I follow Jeff Phillips religiously and I’ve got my eye on that NYX myself, so it’s nice to get another perspective as a former public speaker if I could give you some constructive criticism word whiskers can sometimes be a little annoying to listen to I think if you could get rid of those your channel would grow faster Word whiskers ? And.Um, um,and um and um. Please don’t take this offensively. My intentions are good! Well, meaning I do believe it would help you putting out better videos again thank you for the review on these bows

People need to realize that many of these so called American bows are made in China. Currently, there are 30+ different bows with American names, that can be bought under a different name, for $200-$400 dollars less ,and its exactly the same bow, with no change or only color or insignificant finish change. WAKE UP PEOPLE.

Came for the trad bow content. Subscribed and look forward to the the journey this season. What are the main differences between the 64 and 60 inch mesa longbows?
@YankeeRebelOutdoors
@YankeeRebelOutdoors 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for subscribing! The 60" version has a greater amount of reflex in the limbs as well as a more high-wrist style grip, similar to what you find on most recurve bows. The 64" version has a more mellow grip that lets the wrist sit lower, kind of like the wrist positioning of a compound bow grip. Shooting wise you will notice a bit more hand shock and noise from the 60" than you will from the 64" version. Both are wonderful bows! - Zach

I dont hunt from trees but its not a bad idea to develop a closer shot with a stronger cant. If you are shooting gap or other type of point of aim system that is fine for that 12 yard and longer but consider those closer shots work on getting a stronger cant that just rests outside of our leg and outside of the tree. I only ground hunt and I have developed two positions one is a more target archery straight up style and the other is a hard cant that I use in smaller ground blinds or when I am hunting from my knees or my dig in seat. I also use a 58 inch tip to tip longbow for 99% of my hunting so that helps.

If you dropped your tether down the trunk closer to your waist, would not your string clear the bridge better?
@YankeeRebelOutdoors

That does allow for some better string clearance. However, it does change the angle of how the saddle fits. This is something we are certainly experimenting with. Thanks for the comment! How high do you run your tether when shooting trad?

I also had to do this for my short crossbow. It allowed me to sit back further from the trunk and not have to move the limbs past the tree for a shot. I’m trying trad for the 2nd season after 7 of crossbow only.

Lose the platform and use any type of ring around tree steps, your in a hole different shooting angles and mobility is key, i have been hunting traditional from my sling for over 30 years, and practice makes perfect. I have hunted 3 years with ring of steps. Pros- easy to carry in. 4 aluminum steps fit in a pouch with my tether. Cons- if you are hunting dark to dark you will become uncomfortable. Imo short hunts they are great. I bought a platform last year and testing it I feel it will be more comfortable for longer days in the tree. But...I still don't know how I'm going to carry it in. Pros and cons to both I suppose. Good video God bless.

@@trashpanda2396 Thank you for your thoughts on the ring of steps vs platform. I'm thinking that it would be great to use both in the same set up. I'll do some tinkering and come up with something. Also, Tethrd Makes a pack that holds the platform, and it works really well!

I love recurve bows and traditional archery. Totally instinctive. I’ve give up on compounds. Even though I’ve stripped my old compound down to nothing but a rest and quiver. Shoot it with fingers also. No bells and whistles. It has brought back my whole reasoning and enjoyment of archery as I was taught as a kid by my late dad. He was a recurve man also. I love y’all’s enthusiasm as well. Keep up the good work.

Great video. Since bows are such a personal choice, I'm not going to comment on your choices although they seem to be excellent. What I would like to comment on though is the enthusiasm you have for traditional archery. I shoot at a shop dominated by compounders and try my best to get some of them to try a recurve or longbow and find out how much fun they are. Keep up the good work. You might just find yourself selling that compound.

I just tonight discovered your channel, and I'm glad I did. (I subscribed right after watching this video.) My very first thought was, "These two are GREAT together; I should tell them that." Then I watched your deer-season recap and learned that you're going to be hosting this channel TOGETHER from now on, so I clearly don't need to tell you how well you balance each other. No wonder you're friends! This discussion of the two new Traditional Only bows you bought was both fun and informative. For ME, it would have been even better if you had commented on some of the bows you considered but DIDN'T buy. For example, I have to think that you both seriously considered the Trad-Only Oberon recurve and longbow, and I would have enjoyed hearing your reaction to those.(Jeff Phillips went nuts over the Oberon recurve.) Be that as it may, I can't wait for the next video, when you take the Mesa and Nyx out to the range (or the 3D course?) for some serious shooting and tuning. All the best, Chris (in Maine).

Hi Chris! Thank you for the kind words and support of our channel! This is something that is a big passion for the both of us. We are far from professionals but really enjoy hunting, the outdoors and learning along the way. As far as the Oberon recurve, that is a bow that I highly considered. It was actually in my cart for a couple of days on 3riversarchery.com before ultimately going with the Nyx and Mesa. Neither of got the opportunity to actually shoot it. But, who knows, maybe will have that bow in the near future ;) Again, thank you very much for the support! We will have a full review of each bow coming very soon! -Tyler and Zach
