I miss Media Play. Mine closed around 2003ish when I was 8 so I only really recall about four years of shopping there with my parents. I'll never forget the big Goosebumps (The Haunted Mask) picture they had over the book section and learning about the Dreamcast for the first time

James was a trash human He treated employees horribly and tried to take Lisa's company away from her. When Lisa and the board went to fire him at a meeting he dodged the meetings for a whole year until Lisa took him to court and he was obligated to attend he was then fired with his mistress and the secretary of his mistress. James even tried to get written notes from his children saying that they were okay with him taking Lisa to court (the kids didn't do it) James was addicted to cocaine and just a mess of a human. James Mistress was also caught writing fake checks and not filing the documentation for the workers to receive their benefits such as healthcare, 401 k it was even said that James use to lock employees in the building. Before they were fired they had stolen five trucks filled with Lisa Frank merchandise and all of that money went straight into their own pockets the divorce was finalized in 2007 and Lisa was finally in full control over the company she had built but James ruined the company's reputation so badly. Now Lisa Franks son is in charge of the company social media and they've been doing collabs and doing pretty well.
