Another great playthrough complete! I'm torn between this and Trails from Zero as my favorite arc-starting game, but I think I'm leaning Daybreak. I really enjoyed the changes to combat and the entire new cast, not to mention the returning characters (especially Renne!). Now to wait a few months for the next game. It's a bit unsettling to know that our protagonist still has a ticking time bomb inside him, but I guess that's nothing new for Trails. It was also very cruel of the game to have all those yellow NPC dots locked away and inaccessible in the diner before you head to the rooftop. I wonder what they would say if you managed to hack your way into the room. I guess it ended up being a very fitting mechanic where Van can take all the "Hate" upon himself during battles. With no knowledge of future games, I'm guess C was Cronkite, and that the last Genesis will have something to do with Judith. Why else would Agnes's Genesis light up whenever Judith was in Grimcat mode during the early game?

I really liked that storyline, Bulbfish Island was awesome. Now we know how many grampy Turnips there are. So many pipes.

It's crazy how many iconic Mario aspects only exist because they reskinned a different game since they didn't think westerners could handle Mario 2. Birds, shy guys, Luigi being slightly faster and has a bit of flutter jump along with higher jump, etc

Yeah, that stache improvement has been worth it. The easy counter does sound good, but I can see how it totally messes with one's rhythm. Falsely accused, it's like we've never left the Ace Attorney games ;)

“Ecks Ray” is a really fun wordplay

One of Renne's personalities was called Quatre. The very obedient one who was always "bleeding out of sight." Curious to see if there's any connection; I can't imagine there won't be. Dantes, determined to look cool with one hand in his pocket until the very end. One of the five demon lords who lead the 77 devils. Wonder if McBurn is also one.

The handy little trick with Tactical Bonus that I noticed is that there's a delay between the end of a Command Battle and when the battle summary pops up. As long as you start the next fight (even on the Field) before the summary appears, all the previous bonuses are preserved and you can just keep chaining fights until you achieve all the possible bonuses. I actually chained all the enemies outside the Genesis Tower this way in one huge series of Command Battles (like 30+ enemies) and got a 5.0+ tactical bonus with enough EXP to level multiple times. and 500+ of each sepith.

The architecture in the Genesis Tower really reminds me of some of the otherworldly environments in Ys Ark of Napishtim. Oh, and we get to enjoy the glorious Resonance of Ray during our trek through the final dungeon.

3:38 Haha, love Elaine's passive aggressive walk right between Van and Agnes after Van says "as long as Agnes and I are here, we'll find our way in." She definitely did that on purpose. Also love the faint homages to Fateful Confrontation in the battle track.

The behavior you mentioned isn't due to stupidity, they are simply struggling to survive in an urban environment that lacks the resources and nesting spaces they need for proper nesting. Pigeons in their natural habitat outside of cities are no worse than other birds at nest building nor do they nest in stupid places. In other words WE made them that way and they're trying to make the best of it.

Ya know it took me this long to notice this, and even then it outright took a game reviewer pointing it out for me to see it. The people in this game are all talking wall outlets! Someone at Nintendo looked at a wall outlet, noticed it kind of looked like a face, and built an entire species for their game around that.

When Chilliam and Burnadette are being taken behind bars, why are Mario and Luigi just standing there instead of intervening? Shouldn’t they tell everyone present what they’ve found out about the assistant? They have the proof!

I spent forever trying to find that Nina sub-event, and then I discovered I could go down into the garage for the first time. I love how all the church members are certain that Sister Philia was out helping the community when in reality she was getting her yuri fix watching some idols.

I was really confused by the cube regenerating too. I thought I had blinked and the game glitched.

With the time-based nature of the current predicament, the Geneses being shaped like clocks, and the heavy implications that Van was another victim of the DG Cult, it was at this point that I started speculating that Van actually had a Genesis implanted inside his body during experimentation. That could also be what subconsciously drew Van and Agnes to meet.

I'm happy to see that Walter is also protective of Renne.
