Good idea Tim. Don't know if you remember this, back in the day, we hauled horses in the back of pickups. I had a horse that I couldn't lead into the back of the pickup if it wasn't parked nearly level with the bank. But if I was on his back, even bareback, he would hop right in even on level ground with the tail gate open but not all the way down. A couple horsemanship clinics later, and I figured out how to better resolve the issue. Keep up the good work!

That's a great story. It's funny that a person who could ride his horse in the back of a pickup like a circus clown star needed lessons!

Tim's vision was to reform an older truck into a pickup to use for hauling our horse trailer. He wanted something old enough to be simple enough to work on himself. No electronics! He found an old Franz bread truck for cheap and brought her home. He really wondered whether he had bought the right truck. He had doubts about her and was afraid he'd end up with a big piece of junk in the end. But, he started working on it. First he shortened the wheel base, removing two sections of drive shaft. Then he chopped off 15 feet of frame rail. He had an old fuel tank lying around and cut it up to make fenders and even flattened out a couple big pieces to make the deck. He used the old frame from the rail to make the fifth wheel hitch and rear bumper. After repainting the blue trim to black and silver, things started to shape up. The Toby Keith song came to mind while he was finishing up the smaller details. He has always loved what Toby Keith has stood for. He knew he was struggling with cancer and he thought of him a lot as the visions of his old truck, that he had so many doubts about, came together. Toby passed away about the same time Tim finished up his last details of his "truck". This is the reason for his tribute to Toby Keith. He hopes you've ejoyed it!
