noisy chiming but lots of traffic? you mean lots of traffic but lovely chimes? Traffic or no traffic as a Brit the sound of those bells warms my heart. Thank you for uploading

Hello there, I'm a historian from the U.S. and those bells give me goosebumps when I hear them. Words cannot describe how the sound makes me feel, but there is no denying that the sound is very beautiful. That is something we definitely do not hear in the U.S. every day, especially not here in Florida. You Brits enjoy that beautiful old clock tower!
@PinkPanther4958
@PinkPanther4958 8 ай бұрын
@@artemis2520 have you noticed that the bells sound extra crisp and musical since they were cleaned up and their hammers adjusted so they do not 'smack' the bell but rather 'clip' the bell as they did when the tower was erected.
@artemis2520
@artemis2520 8 ай бұрын
@@PinkPanther4958 Yes, they sound a lot clearer now. Are they louder than they were before? I have never been to London and I have only heard the bells over recordings, but they sound a bit louder now. I don't know, perhaps my ear is untrained.
@PinkPanther4958
@PinkPanther4958 8 ай бұрын
@@artemis2520to be quite honest they seem to have become quieter but that is due to the adjustments made to the clappers. As you know the tower uses a victorian turret clock to power the dials and the bells which use a system of cables to pull at each hammer to play out the Westminster chimes. Over time the clappers have become worn and as a result the bells have struck louder than usual. Since the 2017 works they have become a little quieter but have a more vibrant tone. If that makes sense.

We were there in January and were able to swim; of course it is weather dependent, but we were in the water alot in January. We had many 80+ degree days and were able to go in the water on the private island of Sandals and on the mainland.

Good place to go for solo adult travelers?
@ram9825
@ram9825 Жыл бұрын
I went solo once. The resort is nice and the town continues to change over the years. Some night life, maybe not many traditional night clubs, but you can always find a bar/restaurant with some activity. I like the area, the sargassum (some form of sea weed) has gotten pretty bad in the summer months. This place is excellent in mid-January.

Great footage. I recently bought a beginner drone Ruko U11S and went to do a video at Hinkley Lake. It came back shaky so I slowed it down to help minimize the nausea as I watched it. I got the FAA exemption registration and passed the TRUST exam, my drone won't fly above 164' on the settings that I have it on but I'm curious, is it legal to post the video on KZbin for family and friends? It is for recreational purposes.

Enjoyed your video from Blackwater Falls State Park, Ron. They're beautiful falls! We have several up too. In fact in one we walk down the very same trail out behind the lodge as you do here. When we got to the bridge I think I mention the "No swimming" sign too. Sadly the lodge was closed on our last visit but we've eaten in the restaurant before. Beautiful views out behind it! We've been to the area many times and love it. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

We haven't been in St. Martin since before Hurricane Irma and it looks like the clothing optional section may have changed and become smaller. Are those light blue umbrellas looking straight out towards the water from this Pirate Hideout bar the beginning of the clothing optional section (i.e. can you swim and sunbathe nude there ??) or is it further to the right away from this Pirate Hideout Bar ? Or is it pretty much laid back and no biggie if you decide to lay out fully nude anywhere in that part of the beach even to the left of the Pirate Hideout Bar (like where the green umbrellas are located) ? The restaurant / bar looks great !! Thanks for the posting the video and thanks for the info. guys !!!
@ram9825

The clothing optional section is a little further down to the right (just a short walk). I think this bar was the last bar before that section. We walked the entire area and there were quite a few participating in the clothing optional area.
