If you do get a turkey, cook it in a pot of water with a stick of butter until tender. Wild turkey tends to be very dry if roasted in the oven. For rabbits, squirrel and wild birds, cut them up cook them in salt water until tender remove them dredge in seasoned flour and fry them up.

Just remember if you have to blanch to store in the freezer, needs to be blanched to FD. Broccoli won't rehydrate if not blanched. If blanched it is just like frozen. If you buy frozen food from the store, if it needs blanched, its already done

Would you say vegetables do better being cooked before they are freeze dried?

One thing I don’t understand about raw foods like raw eggs, and raw meat is when the moisture is extruded from it and adhere to the inner walls of the freeze dryer. Does it not contaminate that with E. coli and other things like salmonella? So that when it thaws out and you put your next food in there, can it not contaminate the next thing in the freeze dryer?

Hello Cassandra, I’m new to your channel and LOVE ❤ LOVE your content. Are you uploading a November pantry chat? It would be helpful to have these monthly chats labeled with the month at the beginning of the video so the month you’re looking for can easily be found.

Im going to fo your hack eith eggs. If it's cheaper to buy eggs in bulk i will break half of the eggs and put in silicone molds and freeze. 2 boxes of macaroni noodles with half a box of the lg velveeta cheese makes so much macaroni and cheese. Put in sandwich containers and put in kids lunch boxes or the frig with pieces of hot dogs or hamburger as well.

This sounds amazing. I found your pressure-canned French onion soup recipe on the Web, thought you were hilarious and I needed to hear your actual voice cracking those jokes, and sure nuff you're so charming! Subscribed! I had no idea rice and noodles could be the base for a frittata. 🤯 I need to make this plum sauce! (Though I'm more likely to try the sweet cherry substitute you mentioned, as I have them in my freezer.)

I dry my peeels on a bag on my kitchen table or over an unfoldable stackable container. Crysh uo and store in a cottage cheese container. Can grind as well. Never got bugs as a ceiling fan is over my table. This is called fertalizer tea. Make sure to have banana peels fir potassium. Place in water and allow to soak. Add egg shells and magnesium as well. PS No salt is potassium if you need some. Add fertalizer tea to water and water plants. PS you can also use your urine or yeast for fertilizer as well.

That corn looks amazing but, as a long time corn farmer, those cobs still have a LOT of corn and flavor left on them! That half the kernel and the corn milk is where all the sweet flavor is, so definitely don't lose that! Take a butter knife or a large spoon and scrape down each row , over the bowl. You will get little bites of the best tasting corn you EVER HAD as well as the sweet sticky corn milk which will add that flavor to every kernel you've already scraped off. Give it a try and you'll never go back! And another easy peasy easy to cut fresh corn is to stick the cob inside the center of a BUNDT PAN and run your knife down so the kernels fall into the round section. It works great and you get ALL of the kernel instead of just the outside half! You'll find you harvest about 1/4-1/3 MORE corn per cob this way, which is a frugal home cooks best way to save money!!

This video was an answer to my prayer...literally! We have finally been able to save for the purchase of a freeze dryer(small) and I really got nervous about spending so much because I had so many questions and worries...you answered them perfectly and now Im confident in buying. I buy sale and bulk when I get a really good deal and we have everything in freezers and cannot fit anything else, yet we need to keep stocking up...JUST IN CASE. Thank you so much for making this video, God Bless.

I use garbanzo bean liquid plus about a tablespoon of the beans instead of eggs When I do use eggs I only use 1 egg yolk because I use it sparingly & dont want too much. And I just hand whisk it to avoid cleanip on my hand blender. (Usually I sdd all my ingredients to the mayo mixing bowl - slaw veggies etc.). I never used whey liquid before but I will try it soon because I often have it on hand from having made yogurt, then drained it for greek style yogurt or even put it in a cheese mold with a follower for slightly tangy cream cheese. BTW - I use light olive oil, which I use for most of my cooking. If you dont blend it at too high a setting, it wont split & it tastes fine & I dont have to go get special oil. EVOO tastes kinda bitter in mayo, tho, imo. I have even used warm pork fat from my pork shoulder confit. It tastes great. Ive also used bacon grease, but it sets up too form when chilled. Mayo is easy and so versatile. (I used to make almond mayo, but I can no longer have almonds. But if you are vegetarian & would like to try it, Marilyn Diamond's (Fit for Life) recipe is the best almond mayo. I miss it!)
