The green you see on the water is a very invasive pest called the water hyacinth and it removes oxygen from the water. They have to eradicate it.

this is prime example of dirty money at work, I grew going at this dam as a child and almost all of it was accessible to us, but now its 99% owned by the 1% who cant even appreciate it for what it is. so cool
