In 1971 I visited Brentwood, found a cute local girl and visited over the summer. My visits came to an abrupt unfortunately. Doesn’t look to have changed much, thanks for provoking some fond memories.

Whoaa! 7th in our days. I used to live in Hackney wick and work all over hackney on foot day and night at a time when there used to be 3 to 4 murders every weeks. Good to see a Filipino in Hackney.

It looked a lovely day and a nice ride. It makes a change from all the people practicing for the Ride-London (Essex). There have literally been dozens an hour going past my house. Essex often gets a bad wrap, but it has some good riding if you avoid the main roads. The country roads in the very north of the county are very scenic and generally very quiet. 👍

Living about a mile away from where your video ended I have to say maybe not "The Best" cycling route in Essex but certainly some nice roads that I have ridden hundreds of times. Toot Hill is a decent local climb but you should head for High Beach if you want more of a challenge. Several nice climbs around that area within a short radius of each other.

@@myvoltaire Yes it is. If you want some nice, quiet, country roads in Essex the instead of going down Toot Hill on your route, go straight on at the top and head North towards Matching Green. If you are into cafe stops then there is one a bit further on at White Roding at Bretts Farm Shop or if you are really adventurous head for the Snug at High Easter.
