I remember those places from my youth. Every summer we'd visit my grandmother in Davis. I'm very familiar with the area - Thomas, Davis, Coketown, Parsons, Black Waterfalls, Cannon Valley & Dolley Sods. Much more built up from my last visit 25 years ago.

I don't see any stipe or gills under there. I'm pretty sure those are puffballs, not button mushrooms. Still a great find, though!
@BleuBeibАй бұрын
@BoogyaWizzle oh, I wasn't sure. Good to know 😄 if it is edible?
@BoogyaWizzleАй бұрын
@BleuBeib So, the short answer is yes! ... but the long answer is that you need to make sure they haven't started producing spores to ensure you can *still* eat them. Eating the spores can make you sick, which is the key thing to remember. With the ones you found, you should be able to pick one and cut it in half. If the inside is a soft, white color, then you're good to cook them up and enjoy! That said, if there is a brownish/grayish/yellowish discoloration, then spores have started forming, and it's not good to eat. That said, if they are good, they have a very soft texture. The flavor, in my opinion, is pretty mild. Oh, but if the spores are very very far along (look specifically at the ones with holes on top) you can give them little boops and have a whole POOF of spores come out. It's one of my favorite things when it comes to puffballs. Just make sure you look into guides for positive identification of any mushrooms you find. One key phrase that has always stuck with me is to never munch on a hunch. Some mushrooms can be deadly poisonous, such as the Destorying Angel or Death Cap. So, knowing what you're looking at before you make a snack is vitally important.
@BleuBeibАй бұрын
@BoogyaWizzle wow, got to remember that! love the information you gave as I know nothing about that knowledge. I only dare to eat mushrooms that I bought from the grocery store 🙃 😅 thank you so much! Have a wonderful day! 🥰

Love your videos and might want to try out some of these spots in the next couple weeks but the directions do not line up with the maps. At Alpena Lodge on Rt 33 looks like you go North on 12 which one maps calls that Sully Rd, another Ridge Rd, go north until you have to make a hard left on Delta 162, which from the map looks like it would be hard to make that left with a long rig. Although that maybe the road to Gladwin. I can’t find a Gladwin Rd anywhere in that area, very confusing. I am heading west and thought I would check out some of these spots in WV. But it looks like you need to check out these places before you take a rig in.
@BleuBeib2 ай бұрын
@jamesderr1344 Hello 👋 If you come from Davis, the GPS will take you to WV-32, - Black Hollow Rd. - Jenningston Rd. - Gladwin Rd - Ridge Rd - Delta 162 😀 (so not from I33). Sorry for the confusion 🫣 Wishing you to have a wonderful trip! 😊

@@BleuBeib Where I’m at now I have very little internet so I was searching on my iPad which only has Google Earth and Lower Glady Dispersed Camping Area doesn’t exist, but on Google Maps it does exist and gives proper directions, all of which makes no sense but I will have to stick to Google Maps. Thanks, it used to be I had paper maps to everywhere I went but now we have to rely on the computer which doesn’t always work so well, and especially when you can’t get cell service. Relying on GPS is what gets big rigs in trouble, especially in the mountains.
@BleuBeib2 ай бұрын
@jamesderr1344 Right! Google Maps would work great for Lower Glady Dispersed Camp Area. We sometimes need to keep the coordinate for GPS (which is sometimes not always right 😅), just in case we lost our connection on Google Maps. Or go to the nearest city, or go to Walmart lol.
