Hey which part of the bow u look to aim. I keep in missing my carp 😢
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing 4 ай бұрын
We aim for the belly line of the fish and work our way up or down from there. Have to aim low because of that water refraction!

Are your bows better than Cajin?
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing 5 ай бұрын
I've never shot a Cajun bow so sorry I can't respond directly to your question. The bows in this video were the Hooligans, since then we came out with the Hooligan V2. Really love this bow. Heavy wall deep V cams, minimal let off for snap shooting, 40 and 50 pound post on the cams for maximum draw weight, draw weight range from 25-50 pounds, plus its made in the USA.

I have a couple of these tips that have become very loose and won't stay tight while retrieving fish. I love the trips but they are now useless to me. Can someone tell me if there is a way to correct this problem?
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing 5 ай бұрын
Hey Lonnie sorry to hear about your issue. You could try to put an o-ring between the two bodies if you can separate them or you can try to re-crimp them. You should see two small indents on the upper body where the two bodies meet. Maybe take a phillips screwdriver and tap it with a hammer. Don't hit the screw driver to hard and keep checking as you do this. Hopefully this will help you.

Why can’t you use the AMS saftey slide?
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing 10 ай бұрын
When using Safety Slides the line is tied directly to the slide. When bowfishing for Alligators the line is tied directly to the point. We use the Safety Slides for all of our normal bowfishing except for Big Game.

Too much talking.
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing Жыл бұрын
This video was more of a documentary of the 13 year journey of the AMS tournaments, so we had to fill everyone in on bowfishing tournaments in general and all the changes we have made over the years. So yeah there might have been more talking in this video, but we do have a ton of other bowfishing videos and teasers with straight up bowfishing action. (no talking at all)

Can the hooligan V2 be used with a spinning reel and if so is there a recommended reel seat?
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing Жыл бұрын
Yes they can. Those get screwed into the threaded stabilizer hole on the front of the bow. Any reel seat will work it all depends on the shooters' preference and style. Best of luck on the water.

Are polarizing filters available for your cameras? You can see what you shoot at but we cannot see due to the glare.
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing Жыл бұрын
We do use polarized filters during bright sunny days but it really only helps in clear water. Clear water that is stained makes it difficult for the viewer to see as does muddy water.

most interesting part of podcast was the short portion where dustin touched on homeade equipment and thinking he invented the sport. I can relate! bowfishing from the time i could hold a bow in the mid 70’s, and in SD, I WENT through the same thought process. would be interesting for you to interview “an old guy” who has been in the sport so long and has seen and used bowfishing equipment BEFORE THERE WAS BOWFISHING EQUIPMENT. 😂. I’ll be waiting to listen to that podcast. thanks for your enthusiasm for the sport!

What do you guys do with all of those fish?
@amsbowfishing
@amsbowfishing Жыл бұрын
Depends on what species we are targeting. Some we fillet up and eat, some we smoke, local farmers take them and use for fertilizer, some we take to zoos and they freeze them and then they use that to feed the raptors, some we take to fish processors and they grind them up for fish meal, and some end up as fertilizer for food plots. As you can see we use these rough fish in a lot of different ways. We also have videos that show how to fillet and deep fry Bigheads, Silvers, and Grass carp. How to smoke carp as well.
@otterlover2397
