what line is this
@someonesomewhere1240
@someonesomewhere1240 27 күн бұрын
00:00 Johnsonville line northbound, starting at Crofton Downs. 11:12 Johnsonville line southbound 32:50 Paraparaumu line northbound, but only as far as Paekakariki. The line was extended to Waikanae and renamed the Kapiti Line on 20 Feb 2011, after this video was shot. Hutt line doesn't seem to have been visited. 1:16:25 is the TranzAlpine at Christchurch station. 1:20:29 onwards is various shots along the Midland Line that the TranzAlpine runs along. Starts somewhere around Jackson or Moana, heading east.

Can anyone give me more info about that Septa AEM7 leading comets past Rahway? I thought they only went as far as Trenton from Philly!

Nevermind! Asked and answered by the engineer in the video. "See that septa consist? Amtrak's borrowing it I guess, you know how they borrow the MARC equipment sometimes? Yeah they got a Septa train today"

Pedal on the floor that when pressed allows compressed air to enter a cylinder where a piston is moved and linkage to the door causes it to open.

So back in 1997, this trip took half as long as it does in 2023? Way to improve service.

Hello! I have digitized video from analog and DV tapes (and LaserDiscs) before, and it's possible to get native 60 frame per second video out of them. Would you like to know how I do it?

Yes, very old. They still had the Cantenary wire up all the way from woodlawn, though u could see the old style and the new style where the 3rd rail disappears.

About 1990 I'd guess? This was not a revenue move, obviously. Were you the engineer? Video seems to come from the engineer's cab window over the right rail, not the "railfan" (center) window. There are countless items of railfan technical interest along the route that differ from today's config. Nicely done.

Was this filmed from the cab of an AEM-7 Loco, or the front window of a Silverliner? This was almost 30 years ago. Are you still a train operator?
