Peter, Such a great interview with your good friend Phil, and he sounds in upbeat form, yet sadly taken only about a month and a half later. Glad you still keep Phil's Thin Lizzy music and memory alive on your Saturday afternoon Radio Caroline show and weekday Epic Radio shows.❤

What a frustrating experience it was trying to listen to Radio Luxembourg on Medium Wave in the late 1980's, with splatter from local radio and fading in and out. Yet we did it anyway. There was something magical, almost clandestine, about the station. I always think of Tony Blewitt, Mike Hollis and Peter Anthony. Let's be frank about it: apart from the charts on a Sunday afternoon and Annie Nightingale in the evening, Radio One was crap and that's why we listened to Radio Luxembourg. Luxembourg was alive in the nighttime. Station of the 80's...Radio LuxemBOURG!

That 1,200,000 watts modulated the ionosphere - the "Luxembourg Effect" - causing the station's music to be heard in the background of some other stations whose sky wave reflected off the same bit of ionosphere. Especially when Bob Stewart was on air!

Funny as a 14 yr old in 1973 I'd try and take off his voice in my bedroom with my 2 record players.. sadly i never could replicate that mid atlantic draw... Him and Benny Brown had voices like hot honey dribbling down a gang plank. Rest on Bob.. ❤❤
