It appears that progress is finally being made. As of January 2024, the Canarian government has approved plans to construct a 4-star hotel on the site. The hotel will feature 143 accommodation units, 292 tourist spaces, a restaurant, a gym, and a spa.

The local market, usually held every Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 at Avenida El Varadero in Puerto del Carmen, is currently closed. It seems that the market was suspended because the concession company missed some payments, leading the Tías City Council to end their contract.
