Yeah this isn’t a good vid. 00:46 “This character is top5 because KR/JP players say so” Appeal to authority doesn’t make for a strong argument. Those same KR/JP players didn’t rate Akuma and Geese very high until Pakistan players showed them what’s up. In fact, Akuma was seen as B-tier until then. So their opinions are not infallible and they can be wrong like everyone else. Also when you ask them why do they place Raven so high, all you’ll get is “just watch Pinya” which really isn’t helpful. One player doing well in tournaments for a bit, really isn’t evidence enough to put their character in top 5. Don’t take Twitter tier-lists seriously unless they’re accompanied by a well thought out & in-depth explanation. You also haven’t provided much reasoning yourself. You didn’t consider Raven’s kit in it’s totality. You just harp on one move and suddenly that’s enough to declare the whole character as busted. If Raven is top 5 and so broken, then why is Raven an ultra-rare character that’s nowhere to be seen, whereas there’s millions of Kuni players? Why isn’t everyone abusing all this broken stuff? Feng S4 buffs resulted in Feng popping up everywhere in ranked and in tournament. Raven S4 buffs had no noticeable effect on her usage. In fact, from player-accumulated usage stats using in-game data, Raven’s usage is on the decline (take it with a massive grain of salt). I think Raven is definitely upper-mid but the whole “Raven top5” thing has always been a meme for people that actually play this character. Because it highlights that many still know little about Raven. Back when Raven was seen as mid/lower-mid everyone would say “trash gimmick char that’s too complex”. Now that she’s in the higher tiers it’s “because pros said so” or “you gotta watch Pinya bro”. Both are telling of a very shallow understanding of Raven, if any at all. -- 01:24 “Raven’s sweep crushes mids! So broken” You kinda disproved this yourself in your own video (and mid-crush doesn’t exist btw). As Raven starts standing up you can more easily get a full launch. “But I shouldn’t have to delay my punish!” several characters actually have to do this when punishing Law’s dragon tail or several of Eddy’s moves as well. In any case Bamco has raised the hurtbox of Raven’s sweep. Twice. And they’ve increased its recovery on whiff. So they definitely don’t intend for this behaviour and want to make it easier for people to punish. You can argue about Bamco not patching things correctly and I’d agree. There’s multiple instances of Bamco patching something and the original problem still persisting. I personally do wish Raven’s hurtbox wasn’t so wonky so that people can stop crying about it. When Raven randomly goes under stuff, you’re not going to be able to take advantage of it most of the time. 9/10 times its incidental not deliberate. Look how many times you got hit by Heihachi (03:10) before you slipped under his mid, and that’s with you knowing what’s coming and the timing. In a real match you won’t have that luxury and very likely won’t be ready for it on the odd chance it does happen. Also doesn’t help that T7 is plagued with dodgy mids. This is the mark of poor design. An interaction like that does little for the player using it and only results in frustration for the opponent. (And by the way, other characters with a snakedash can also slip under certain mids too, its not just Raven.) -- 01:58 “But the follow-ups and the damage!” When you’re comparing with Mishima hellsweeps, you’re not looking at these moves in their totality. Raven’s sweep has considerably less range than all Mishimas and Bob. While Kazuya’s sweep does less dmg, he forces a 50/50 afterwards and can start his vortex. After Raven’s sweep, the opponent is knocked far enough that the situation more or less returns to neutral. No vortex. Single hit sweep or not, if the opponent stays grounded, Raven can’t loop them. Plus Kazuya gets clean wallsplat when he uses his hellsweep by the wall. Raven does not. In fact she often flies away, losing all positional advantage and that’s if the 2nd hit feels like hitting the opponent, which it does not most of the time at the wall. So there’s trade-offs between these two. One does more dmg but the other gets a free vortex. Which do you think has higher return on investment? Devil Jin’s sweep can still carry you to the wall for positional advantage, and now that they’ve given DvJ his Tag2 hellsweep he can also just loop you in a standing mix. He gets better rewards than Raven whether he chooses to finish the string or not. In terms of wavedash mix, Kazuya has a safe (not just safe but -3 on block) mid-launcher whereas Raven’s mid launcher is -14. I hope you can start to see why it’s important to look at things within the context of their broader kit, rather than just looking at one move in isolation. It’s not a helpful exercise and can lead to warped conclusions. Considering all of this, that Raven’s hellsweep does a bit more dmg doesn’t seem so outrageous now. That hers tracks can be seen as trade-off for shorter range. If I wanted I could go further on how, Raven has worse block-punishment than all the characters you’ve brought up, has no safe NH launchers and is very limited in terms of plus-on-block options. She needs to compensated in some ways for all those shortcomings. And while Raven’s sweep crushes highs where Mishimas don’t, you’re forgetting the fact that Mishimas can do their sweep instantly from standing with no tell. Even if you try enter FC as fast as possible, Raven’s sweep requires 12f of crouch before it can come out. And there’s no way to shortcut that like other characters can with their FC lows. Raven’s sweep crushes highs, because it comes out of FC. Majority of FC lows in the game are high-crush. Again not something exclusive to Raven that makes her somehow uniquely broken. Also, there are several KND lows that get guaranteed follow-ups in this game. Kuni FC sweep into ff2 Steve db3,2 into Alb d2 Nina wipe the floor into ff3 All of those do 39dmg just to name a few. More dmg than Raven’s. Don’t think this is something worth singling out Raven for. Plus there’s also the fact that Julia’s FC sweep doesn’t stagger on block, gives her a FC mix if she doesn’t finish the string and gives her a free ff3 follow-up if she completes the string at the wall. Raven’s sweep also used to not stagger in Tag2 but they made it stagger in T7. -- 02:56 “But she gets auto low-parry from her crouch-dash” As I mentioned before how other chars with a snakedash can also low-profile mids, the same applies with the “auto” low-parry. Its not automatic and has everything to do with the nature of the inputs. The reason Mishima’s wavedash isn’t high-crush? Its because of the last F input. There actually is a high-crush window in the wavedash, during the part when you input d/df the game considers you crouching. But once you input that last F you are considered standing. Same thing happens with Raven’s snakedash. If she inputs QCF to dash, then she’ll be vulnerable to highs. If she only inputs d/df then she’s considered to be in crouch-state the whole time. The same is true for any char that can get a crouch-dash with only d/df. And its that DF input where the low parry comes in. Any char that can snake-dash with d/df also gets an “auto” low-parry so long as they end on DF and don’t complete the QCF. There’s nothing out of line here, it’s all due to how Tekken’s own systems work. I’ve seen your Twitter “discourse” on this and hope you can actually engage in good faith rather than resort to reductive remarks and ad homs. Also in your twitter clips with Zafina, you don’t acknowledge that Raven’s sweep just passes straight through Zafina legs with no collision-detection occurring. Lastly if you still think Raven is busted, play her. Seriously. Give her a solid try for like a week or 2, see what its like in the driver’s seat. Try the things you think Raven players are getting away with so easily. If anything that would give you a more honest perspective.

There's no justification for a mid evasive sweep, if the reward was low then it wouldn't be bad e.g. fengs db3 does the same thing but the reward is much lower. I have played her, and I do well with her, if I played her for 2 weeks I could probabaly get her to tgp but that doesn't prove anything. In terms of the zafina video, the reason some sweeps got backdashed is because i did snake dash too late and let zafina get too far, and the phasing isn't exclusive to raven, it happens to every char because of how her BD works. Please also note that you're not playing only against zafina, if the best backdash in the game struggles to escape snake dash into sweep, what about the other normal backdashers? for the "All of those do 39dmg just to name a few. More dmg than Raven’s. Don’t think this is something worth singling out Raven for." None of these counter hit launch with one exception, and steves has no range. Ninas wipe the floor counter hit launches but it's slower and can be reacted to due to the animation making it much riskier. Other sweep like moves that have extensions and ch launch e.g. hellsweeps force you to not commit to the 2nd hit if you want a launch, raven gets 35 dmg without committing. If i balanced the sweep, i'd make it so the first hit doesn't knockdown unless ch, and pressing 4 transitions into an attack throw for the same damage + animation but due to this, it will also work at the wall. Also Kazuyas safe mid launcher is reactable due to the animation playing very early on, you'll find a lot of players will be ducking and are able to stand guard the ff3 unless there's latency, as such kazuya will usually do ws1,2 when they notice the opponent can see the ff3. Her sweep range is only a bit shorter than kazuyas hellsweep if we assume the sweep is done instantly and not extended with wavu which raven can also do with snake dash. As I said, she isn;t an easy character to play, but that doesn't mean execution can justify bull shit. Just like electrics shouldn't track, her sweep shouldn't evade mids, and her whiff recovery shouldn't be low on certain moves.
@MrOzzification2 жыл бұрын
@@Autoswitched ayt I can't tell if you actually read what I said or if that was a knee-jerk response. "No justification for mid-evasive sweep" You've made quite the leap there. You can't go from "so hopkicks don't work" to "this move is fully evasive to mids". That's an exaggeration. There's still tons of mids in this game that will consistently hit Raven out of her hellsweep. Maybe not every character can get a launch in that situation but there's plenty of cases like that. Raven can't punish Hei ff2 at all or Paul's deathfist at tip-range And I hope you understand this is a larger Tekken problem, not a Raven problem. This game is plagued with dodgy mids and dozens of moves that low-profile mids even when that's not intended their purpose. Heihachi is more consistently evasive than Raven. And Raven's ff3 (her most famous move that people know her for) is definitely top 3 for worst mid hitboxes in the game. Like I said, Bamco has raised the hurtbox on Raven's sweep on 2 separate occasions and slowed the recovery. I don't have a problem with this, maybe Bamco did a lousy job or they should raise the hurtbox even more, so be it. I'd be more happy if they got to fixing wonky hitbox interactions over more buffs & nerfs. "The reason some sweeps whiffed is because I snakedashed too and let Zafina get too far" Well that kinda settles your own argument. If it comes down to timing, then the opponent does have a chance to make it whiff. And that does happen in real games. I've had it happen to me and I've seen it happen in several times in tournaments. "The move should be balanced by removing the KND or reducing dmg" Again you're looking at this move in isolation without considering the broader context. Remove the KND from her sweep and she'll have no KND lows that aren't already slow reactable launchers. Her sweep is the low the opponent is meant to fear and duck. And Bamco's already been busy diminishing Raven's KND options over the years. The sweep needs to do good dmg since Raven's CD mix is inherently more risky. She dies if the opponent blocks either option. With Kazuya, top players still get caught by ff3 tho. And even if his ff3 gets blocked, Kazuya doesn't give up his turn for it. He can still step, counter-poke etc. I don't know why you think Raven's whiff recovery is low, it kinda feels like you're just adding more shit to the table now for no reasom. Which moves in particular are you talking about? She's definitely not like Steve. Several of Ravens moves have significant whiff recovery. bb2, f4, both ws1 and ws2, most of her BT options. If you're thinking of uf4, that's really one of the least problematic moves with low recovery (also trying to whiff punish a move with a mid-extension isn't smart, your asking to get baited).

In neutral you only did mids apart from two times, those are the two hellsweeps he got hit by. Watch this again and see that you tried to do hellsweep EVERY. SINGLE. The players in Sweden who know Hiyab can vouch for his innocence. He does not use macros or any kind of tool to cheat his way to victory. I just want to inform you that he's not that type of player.

True but he was 100% using a macro against me. What is the inconsistency ? He's doing an input that is only reliably possible with a tas. Going from db to df+2 in a single frame MULTIPLE times, you go into practice mode and try to replicate the input reliably in 3 bar. Ducking only when hellsweep is coming, never any other time. He has never ducked except on the animation of the sweep, nornally this isn't enough, but the input used is sadly only reliably possible with a macro. Even with a keyboard i couldn't replicate the input. He may have just decided to try out the macro, but sadly he got caught out.

Someone send this vid to the Eliza discord 😉 nice job though Rahid
@dhiod4 жыл бұрын
Okay so first of all, Eliza's d3 is nowhere near better than Akuma's. Akuma's has not only better range, but a better hitbox, which is the main issue with Eliza's. Being even the slightest off axis to the right against characters like Feng and Dragunov make D3 clean hit impossible, if even you're in range 0. Eliza's D3 just refuses to clean hit even in situations where it 100% should. I'd suggest you actually use the character or ask people who actively play the character before making statements like this. Yes Eliza is very strong at the wall, I dont think anyone would disagree with that. In exchange, her neutral is extremely lacking. Eliza is basically not a character until she has access to meter. D3 in neutral is abysmal as there is 0 way to force clean hits in neutral. D3xxQCF=1 is interruptible up to i12 on block. And for D3xxQCF+1, if the D3 didnt clean hit, which it generally is not going to in neutral, you can walk the QCF+1 and launch it. Even if the D3 hit you. This character loses hard as hell to any opponent with patience and the ability to competently backdash. Eliza's primary mixup at the wall is going to be after her b1,2 wall ender into either iadk4 or d3. You can stay grounded to eat w/e mixup she wants to do and then roll to get away from her. Eliza's setups typically rely on you tech rolling, so mix up your wake up options. If you stay grounded and just take an 18 damage hit that burns her meter, then you've massively gimped her output already. Eliza's wall game is very good and could do with slight damage nerfs for sure. But saying moonglide, meter, and divekick should all be nerfed is just a bad take. Your issue is with her wall game, nerfing all of these things takes away from the character outside of the wall where she's already by far one of the weakest characters.
@Autoswitched4 жыл бұрын
I tested the range in the video..? lol. Akumas d+3 doesn't hit at range 2, but elizas does, enough said already, evidence is right there. I already mentioned the problems you listed with d+3 are not limited to just eliza, but to akuma and paul too. "eliza is not a character until she gets meter" The issue is, SHE ALWAYS HAS METER! She gets 2-3 bars per round, akuma gets 1 at best. D+3 Is impossible to properly punish because of her options afterwards. If she does dive kick, the ws+4 will get ch and the eliza player will kill you, you can beat this by backdashing as soon as d+3 is blocked, however dive kick whiff recovery is fast so you have to do your punish super fast, but now she can just do d+3 all day. d+3 into qcf+1 also TRADES with i12 so unless your i12 first hit does 24 damage or more, she wins and is -9 on block, and lasty d+3 qcf+1 is -13 but beats every ws option and is near impossible to tell the difference between the fireballs in a real match. She can also do d+3 ex divekick or ex fireball which will launch if you try to punish d+3. If we look at neutral, d+3 super costs 2 bars, but she gets meter twice as fast as akuma... So technically 2 bars for her is 1 bar for akuma right? So she has access to d+3 super at the same rate as akumas d+3 fireball fadc b+1 except it's easy to combo lol. I play 2d characters lol, hence why i can say she is broken. I've beaten top players with a 20 minute eliza against players who know the matchup, but the character is so strong that it doesn't matter because of how strong her 50/50 is, how fast her bar grows, and how good her tools are. ff+4,2 exfireball is a mid,mid because it forces a mgl mixup and is half screen, you can avoid the mixup by stepping and TAKING DAMAGE from the second ex fireball lmao, name another character where you eating damage from a string is the best option to avoid a mixup where you could lose the round if you guess wrong? Your other option to beat this is to power crush, but guess what? You have to guess if she finishes it or not, meaning you can get punished, and not every power crush beats it. You can also if you're lucky parry the second hit which is extremely difficulty especially online, failing to do so will get you launched. Eating the hit and then tech rolling still puts you in a mixup except this time you ate extra damage before taking the mixup. She also has low jab ex fireball which is a ch launcher, +10 on block just like f,f+4,2 and forces a mgl mixup. Now you may say akuma has it too, but akuma doesn't force you into a mixup, you can back dash out of d+3 clean hit range, eliza is +10 and you're forced to guess between a wall bounce, and a low juggle starter. Also, akumas combo requires execution, eliza's doesn't. People also forget she has alisa's standing 4... I've ch plenty of people with it... Let's not forget her lows, she has "bad" lows d+4 is essentially a better version of heihachis d/b+2 that crushes some mids, ch launches, is faster, and also is +5 on hit. People who say eliza isn't good either are downplaying, don't want her to get nerfed, or just genually think their character is bad because they haven't explored all her options.
