Please keep in mind that the tier list is based off my experience, so feel more than free to disagree. Also I am aware that stats can be increased by finding random drops in a dungeon. However it's only increased for that dungeon run specifically and I didn't wanna base my thoughts around random drops. Currently finishing up the gamefaqs guide for Dungeon Explorer and the longplay will be coming soon after. Thanks a bunch for being patient!

No. You just have to play through a stage long enough without transforming, and the boss will eventually appear.

You know, with the amount of coverage you give this game, I feel I may have been a bad influence to you. Not even the guys at Telenet Japan would believe someone actually plays their janky masterpiece for science these days, haha.

Nah it's cool. At the end of the day, it comes down to if I want to do something. I didn't go deeper into Beast Wrestler because no one else has or to be the first to find out. I do it because I was in the mood to do so. The stat system in particular has been a mystery I wanted to solve for awhile and weeks ago I realized "Wait, I got a better understanding of how to RAM search, why not turn on Beast Wrestler again". Moments like that make me go back, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna play it endlessly. If I'm in the mood for it, I will. Otherwise, I won't bother, cause while I love this game personally, it's freaking awful and I would never go out of my way to defend it.

@@Aszaxa LOL that's true and fair enough. I always thought it needed an elaborate and massively expanded remake to shine. One of the most important things I'd change is make every monster DNA compatible with each other (save for HAX-004, since according to the manual it is fully mechanical). And then of course there is the non-trivial problem of reformulating the gameplay from the ground up so it makes sense. I feel the devs had some good ideas, and the results of your tests seem to indicate they were going for a sort of stamina system to prevent attack spamming. Of course, all the same, they fail to implement a safety catch to stop lift/hit spam, so trying to keep the attacker at bay by deducting LP fails spectacularly.

Slipped up on Dycoon, Federico went great, Allowena was a mess, Ulvolos could have went better, and I clutched out a Super against HAX and Ominos. This is a scary speedrun to attempt compared to Path A. Surprisingly I got a way better time thanks to what I've learned since then. If I do speedrun this game again, I'll probably try Path A again since I know I can get a much better time! I'll make a huge update to the gamefaqs guide sometime next year. Also, apologies for the audio. I'm definitely gonna need a better converter to capture the gameplay.

I don't know how the people at Takara could manage this, but it's a technical showpiece for sure. Still, I kinda wish they'd have released FF Special for the Mega Drive with a big cart so it could decently fit everything. Very cool and thorough guide, as usual!

This one goes on the unflattering "games that give the Saturn a bad name" column. Did they really think they could push sales by hiring famous voice actresses or something? I guess it's easy to see where the budget went... The only way this game could have reached a minimum level of short lived relevancy is if it were released before Virtua Fighter. As is, the only thing that is mildly impressive (besides how badly it looks and plays) are the interesting VDP 2 backgrounds, but that's a small consolation. Having recently watched your Ninku video, it was a one-two punch of Saturn dumpster fires for me LOL.

Man, this is so interesting. I thought I knew the ins and outs of this one pretty well, but this is all new! The guts and scaling seem to be an attempt by the devs to balance spamming and hyper offensive strategies and also create a risk and reward mechanism which is pretty forward thinking for the time. Of course is all falls flat when comboing knockdowns is basically free once you reach certain thresholds, but still. I hope you continue to explore this one!.

I definitely plan to in the future. My plan is to do some more runs with RAM Watch open to see how the stats change over a playthrough. There's most likely more to this, so it'll be some time before I dedicate a week or two into finding out everything else this game has to offer!

I can't say I've fully mastered this game until I do a speed run on Path B, and go deeper into how endgame stats function. Funny enough, the Dycoon Fusion deathblow deals around 10 LP (which explains why Path B is so difficult). I still got another video planned for this game, but that won't be until months later. For now, imma get back to making guides as usual.

As someone who struggled through t2 arcade for genesis with a pad instead of a menacer, I fully support waiting to get one before you do that game.. it's hell without one. also you're right to feel like terminator 2 was a blend of sci-fi and horror. James Cameron was quotes saying he was inspired by slasher films when it came to how the terminator would stalk the connors, so the first 2 films easily fall under the slasher horror genre even if only the second terminator actually had the ability to slash and stab. lol

I still think Aicho is undoubtedly the best character in the game. That said, he isn't unstoppable. My opponent didn't put as much time into the game as I have. Therefore, I can only imagine how ridiculous Aicho would be if they knew how to do his unblockable headbutt loop. I did have a lot more fun this time around, but I think I'll stick to the other sega fighting games for now.

This was a fun set to watch, so I hope it wasn’t too frustrating for you. I’ve seen one player playthroughs and special move exhibitions for this game, but I thank you for archiving an actual two player match set!
@Aszaxa
@Aszaxa Ай бұрын
Before you comment... While I did enjoy trying a VS match of this game, it's safe to say that I was livid during this set. It came down to two reasons in particular. First off, if you couldn't tell from the beginning, we already did a FT5 prior to this set. It was actually a fun experience, but the recording didn't capture the game. I was rather frustrated, but I figured I'd mind as well do another set while the game is still fresh in my mind. The second reason was due to the game itself. I'm not a huge fan of mirror matches, but playing as anyone but Aicho is like a death sentence. He has a unblockable fast headbutt that hits crouchers, and a two-hit dive attack that not only becomes unblockable after blocking the first hit, but also drains meter (even on block). He also has a reversal for good measure, though reversals in general feel fake so I can't say for sure if it's invincible on frame 1. In any case, I still had fun. That said, I can't see myself playing this against someone else again. I give this game a "At least it's not Ballz 3D" / 10. It severely lacks in content and has a fighting system that comes off as bland for newcomers, or very unbalanced for those that go deep (aka do unlockables over and over). There are much better anime fighters that were released before this one.

Before you comment... There are two endings for Ninku Gaiden: Hiroyuki Daikatsugeki. The normal ending is the one you'll get for finishing the game normally, where he simply leaves since there's more work to be done. In this ending, you get to fight the true final boss and see the good ending upon defeating him. It triggers by connecting all 3 diamond blocks in each stage. At the end, you get a code that unlocks a 25 stage long puzzle mode. These puzzles also pop up in the main mode at random. Finishing the puzzle mode unlocks a stage select code. I already submitted both codes to Gamefaqs. In any case, I found this out by curiosity alone. All I wanted to know was if anything changed from connecting all the diamond blocks in each stage. I'm glad to say it was well worth doing so. The Ninku video is gonna take longer than I though since I'll have to update the guide on Ninku Gaiden first (Mainly the multiple puzzles and the real final boss).

Thanks for the video! It's a shame the debugging emulators don't have support for gear to gear yet. At least now I can test how Sonic Drift works in two player versus and get a better understanding of it. I also notice this emulator doesn't support SRAM, Sonic Drift uses it to store the player's best times and every time you play the game in this a "Backup Error" message pops up. So I learned something new about the game.
