Next time do a video where you are not whispering.
@rplj664 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course. This was my first video of any length at all with voice-over.

Some thoughts..not criticism. I’ve been doing installs for years now. Was the attic not an option to run the wire from the soffit where you could mount the camera and then run the wire down an interior hollow wall? If that isn’t an option, you could drill the exterior hole where the camera is going to be mounted. On the interior, remove the base molding and cut a hole in the drywall where the hole won’t be seen once the molding is replaced. You can use a magnet to pull the wire front the exterior hole down through the insulation to the hole on the inside. From the hole on the inside, you can drill a hole down through the baseplate into the basement. Just some other options so you don’t have to repair drywall. Fish rods work much better than a fish tape as well.

Thanks for the great suggestions, absolutely. I actually don't mind drywall repair compared to getting in my attic. Its hot and has 36" of blown-in insulation to deal with. I'll look into fish rods, I've seen them but had the tape so used that instead.

Also, sometime mounting the camera on soffit is not an option to obtain optimum results, where the soffit is way higher than around 8-9 feet (ideal camera height), then drilling the hole through the wall is the only option.

How did ya get the cameras to show up? I just installed mine and my screen is blank, says offline, Clueless, man
@rplj664 жыл бұрын
You have the rc connector for video (yellow) and then the separate power connector. If all else fails and you haven't installed all the cameras hook one up without running the cable first to make sure the system is set up first. If either of the two cables became separated, that could be the problem. Setting up the app is a little trickier but at the dvr with a monitor it should just be as simple as making the connections to camera 1 - 4. Simple checklist to make sure you didn't forget anything: 1. Nothing covering the lense 2. Power is connected to camera 3. Video is connected between camera and dvr 4. No breaks along the cable run 5. No disconnects along the cable run (video has a twist lock but the power does not) 6. No staples in any cables 7. No tripped breaker for outlet where power is plugged in That's all i can think of to check for now.

what are you using after you sand the walls compound? is it to even it out? the mixer i mean. ? MESH
@rplj664 жыл бұрын
Just joint compound on top of the mesh and then sand to flatten the wall or drywall tape can be used instead of mesh. Is that what you are asking?

I would like to do this but I have fire stops everywhere 😔
@rplj664 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. The only thing i can think of would be to get those long 4-ft drill bits. Once the hole is drilled you use it as a fish-tape to pull the wire.

Thank you for your video. Extremely informative. The only thing I would of liked to see would of been the back of the hard drive itself. I’m going to be installing a unit in a couple of weeks, and this really gave me a heads up. Especially nice that you included the drywall work. Thank you for your time in making this video.
