I just finished watching the full series. What an adventure! When you are back in California I’d love to plan the next adventure for your group. Maybe cycling the Lost Coast down to San Francisco. Or for a smaller adventure come stay with Comova for a weekend of riding in Sonoma’s West County. Either way, I look forward to watching videos of your future adventures.

What's with the big masks?!
@imdragonslayer13 күн бұрын
Well. Some people‘s skin type can get tanned and dark very quickly and they don’t like to have too much tan especially they’re riding 8 hours under the sun every weekend. On other hand, some skin type never gets tanned no matter how sun they get , they just get sun burnt.
@LoamReaper13 күн бұрын
@@imdragonslayer Most of us use sunscreen. I've ridden bikes for forty years and have never seen riders wear full masks, although I mostly mountain bike these days. Seems like it would be really uncomfortable!

We don’t have any regular places that we ride on a regular basis. Some of the places are Mtn Hamilton , Canada Rd, Mt Diablo, Tunitas Creek, Page Mill Rd, Kings Mtn Rd, Mtn Umunhum, Santa Teresa Blvd
@carloscortes414120 күн бұрын

we ride on most Sundays. Tomorrow we will ride from Woodside townhall to end of Canada Rd at 7:00am. And do repeats. It will be a training ride rather than a social ride.

I did a very similar route back in February this year! We started in Taipei (so chaotic), went through the center of Taiwan, then back up the east side. I love seeing your recap - brings me lots of good memories from my trip. Taiwan's mountains are no joke, right?? 😵Your guy's ride seems so much harder with the heat and humidity. Good job to your entire group!!
@imdragonslayer23 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience at Wuling. It was really hot and humid and the temperature stayed high even at high elevations. It only started to cool down as it was getting close to sunset time. Heat and humidity sucked the energy out of the body. Wow. You started from Taipei ! That’s a long ride before arriving at the base of the mountains.

I rented the Giant TCR pro from the Giant bike shop in Taipei. Reserved 7 weeks in advance for one week rental. About $200 a week. Good price. Yes. I brought my own pedals and the shop installed them for me. 立来旅遊doesn’t have a website. You can also download the Line app and search for their business and add them. Or call them. They speak Mandarin. Watch the Day1 video , one photo in the video has their contact info posted on the back of the minivan.
@shaun478722 күн бұрын
Thanks for the info. You mentioned the Giant rental store in Taipei in the Day 1 vid. You said you had to reserve 7 weeks in advance. Did you send them your stats in reach, stack, stem length, bar width, saddle height/offset when you made the reservation? So were they able to accommodate fitting out your desired bike size to your exact measurements(swapping out stem, bar, seatpost etc)? The thing is if I have to suffer that much, I want to make sure my rental bike is properly fitted just like my own bike at home. $200 a week for a TCR Pro is incredible. Shipping a bike on an international flight cost more than that. I probably would only do this type of cycling tour in Oct when it's cooler and dryer.
@imdragonslayer21 күн бұрын
@@shaun4787I didn’t send them my spec. The technician fitted me to the bike on the day of pickup and that took about 30 mins. Excellent services they’ve provided. Next time I’ll bring my own seat and have them to install it.
@shaun478723 күн бұрын
Did you rent your Giant? Looks like it. I always think ship my own bike to Taiwan is a silly idea since it's the Mecca of Bike Industry. There should be plentiful Giants or Meridas for me to rent in Taiwan. Bringing my pedals and gears should be suffice. I'm also interested in this cycle tour. Having completed Wulin Climb multiple times on Rouvy, it's time to get real. So does this 立来旅游 has a website I can check out? I don't use facebook.
@Membrillo8123 күн бұрын
That steep "20%" section is a shortcut. You could have kept the main road, which actually has less traffic because many drivers take the shortcut. There's also no need to ride through the city at all thanks to the riverside bike paths. The roadworks that close the road except at certain hours have been there since a few years already. It keeps landsliding. I guess the RAIN slowed you down, but even without rain and given your starting point, you should have started riding at dawn to be able to make it on time. Besides, the earlier the better in hot and humid Taiwanese weather. Nice ride! Awful weather!
@imdragonslayer23 күн бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to write. Now that we had done this ride , I’m 100% agreed with all of your comments and suggestions. 😆. The original plan was aggressive and we didn’t plan to ride 12 hours a day. We couldn’t had skipped the city by hopping into the minivan and drove to the base of the mountain. The weather was terrible that day.
