I find market bags and amigurumi help minimize the amount of 'scrap' yarn I have. You can just throw your yarn bits at either of those and create something not too bad.

I love making both of those! In this case I knew I have two big projects that I need scraps for. I have been gifted some of the scraps and found lots in the thrift stores. This chair I am covering is for their art table. The more colors and wild, the better!

I love all of the finished projects. You have done a great job. I am partial to the banana and pear cuz I recognize them. lol I just can't handle the small tight stitching for amigurumi. I think I have tried everything in crochet at one time or another but always return to afghans and shawls. I enjoy watching you crochet the various characters and the details and think I want to try again but then I can't pick up the pen to make notes. Oh well, I crochet on. The black yarn with the little loops sure does look interesting. Fell better soon so you can have more fun.

Thank you. The tiny items for the sea scape are kicking my butt. They are straining my wrist and my sanity. So tiny and tight. I like the challenge of amigurumis. They really get to me. I love making the wearables. The only blanket I have made was a graph-ghan and I don't think it's the same thing. Make what makes you happy!

Hi how are you doing? I know how frustrating back trouble is. I had to give up work because of it. I cried and blatted for over a year because I couldn't work. I have a problem with my spine that only affects about 8% of the population and it is and will continue to get worse. I don't get around much any more, I might get out of the house about 3 or 4 times a month now. The only thing they can do about it is give me pain killers. Any way I hope your back gets better soon and your wrist too. How is your wrist feeling? It's smart to keep using that brace until your sure it is completely healed. How is the baby feeling? The doll you made is adorable, you have so much talent. You did an amazing job with fixing the hair. You said something about your crochet not being perfect and that it would be boring if it were always perfect. It reminded me of something I heard once, "an artist is never totally satisfied with his creation because if he ever was he would stop creating". I have no idea if that is true or not but I believe it. I'm still wanting to send something to you and I have been thinking about sending your mom something as well. You said she was interested in tatting, I have been thinking about sending her a few thing to get her started with it. What do you think?
@Batmom808
@Batmom808 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words and thoughts! I agree the artist is the worst critic of our own works. I am sorry to hear about your back. It truly is the core of our bodies. You never have to send anything. I am just happy that you are watching the videos, and we can enjoy yarn and fiber arts together. As of now, our postal services are on strike, so we don't know how it's all going to play out. Even if you get to go and relax on a chair in the fresh air, count that as getting out. Please take care of yourself.

Hey how are you. I hope you had a great thanks giving. Glad to see your wrist is feeling better. Do you have a way to get snail mail? I love the cat stitch, I have been planning to make a cat bed out of it lol I think that would be awesome.I love the duster I want to make one too. That is just perfect, teaching your daughter to crochet. Makes me so wish I had at least one girl. I know just because she would be a girl, doesn't mean she would want to crochet but it would be a good start. My boys certainly weren't interested. I haven't really made up my mind about the pine apple pattern. I think I have just seen so many ugly cut glass dishes with that. I love old clothing fashions, That is what got me so interested in tatting in the first place. Some of the hand made lace work is so beautiful.
@Batmom808
@Batmom808 3 ай бұрын
ohhh a cat bed with the cat stitch! I love it! For the duster I just made panels. I started with the back. The basic pattern was, just chain row to the width needed, next row all single crochet, the next row was triple crochet, chain 2, skip 2 and triple crochet. I would end the panel with two rows of single crochet. For mine, in total, I made one large back piece, two panel for the front, two for sleeves and two for under the sleeves to make sure it was wide enough for me to fit. Then I sewed the pieces together. It sounds way more difficult than it is. My mom is wanting to try tatting. I am not ready but wow I have seen some amazing work done. It's stunning! I totally get why the pineapple stitch might not appeal. I love the way it looks as a long flowy skirt. I am really leaning that way for what I want to make with it.

The sleeves were a bit weird for my brain at first. I have marked the first 20 stitches with a stitch marker and the last 20. Those 40 are my two sleeves, which is being done with half double crochet in back loops only, (ribbing). The body of the scarf is a loose double crochet. Thank you about my organization, it's always a work in progress, I will probably never achieve my dream organization.

I don't mind weaving in ends since I got some metal needles a few years ago. All the years before that I used a smaller hook and it was more tiresome; however, I used the hook to help my Mom after her stroke that paralyzed her dominate side. She figured out a way to crochet and I hid her tails. I do admit that the mood to weave in ends comes and goes depending on how excited I am to start the new project. I also tend to weave as I go but wait a few rows first in case I made a mistake and have to go back. lol

I agree whole hartedly with you. The only person you should compare your self to is you. I crochet and I tat for enjoyment , I just want to relax enjoy what I'm doing. I like it when things turn out the first time but if they don;t then I see it as an opportunity to get more practice and to discover more. If there is a new stitch I want to learn I don't mind taking the time to study it first then trying it as many times as it takes to get it right. The bag is really nice I might try to do one too. What on earth did you do to your wrist? Please don't over do it, let it rest and heal when it needs to. I had cateracts removed about a year ago, it was a very quick and totally painless operation. Before that I had worn glasses since I was 5 years old. I have not had to ware glasses since. Ps I remembered the other day you were saying you need more stuffing. I bought a 5 dollar pillow at walmart the other day and I'm planning to cut it open and use the stuffing out of that. I have no idea if it will work but it;s worth a try for 5 bucks.

My wrist is the result of fooling around with one of my kids. It will be ok, I am taking good care of it. So crochet has been very light the past week or so . I am glad to hear that you had a good experience with cataract surgery. That gives me some hope! I am not sure where you live, here, pillows are very expensive. I am better off to just buy a box. It lasted me almost 2 years and many projects, so for the price and the size it's the best value. I just wish they would deliver, it's an hour or more one way trip to pick it up. It's worth the trip though.

that sounds like a lot of fun, Where is this caffee? I would love to go there. No I would not keep those shoes, the name of the brand is not going to make your toes feel better or heal your blisters. It's strange isn't it, the wallmart closest to where I live now is only about half the size of the one where I moved from but they have two times the amount of yarn that the bigger store had. I love playing cards, all different kinds of card games. I had a friend once that me and my ex husband use to visit all the time. She had a book full of directions for different games. We all would sit around the table and play, there was her and her husband and the two of us. We started from the front of the book and worked our way almost the the end of it. It was such a great time. We would put the coffee on, turn on some music and just play cards for hours. We did that every week, at least once a week. I haven't played in so long and I miss it so much. I wish you could teach me to play bakgammon I have been wanting to learn for a while.

Hey.I did try a cool whip plastic lid to enlarge the base of my winder. I was real proud of cutting the center circle for the post and fairly close to the center but alas, it didn't quite work The edge of the lid bumps the yarn coming out of the metal guide and then gets all messed up. I will first try to hold the yarn without the guide but don't think it will work. Next I will try cutting the outside of the lid down a little smaller. Guess we might both have to invest in a larger winder. I use a lot of one pounders and need to wind those before they become a big mess and quite often are still half a pound. I did buy a mesh bag to hold the skein and that may help. I am just afraid that a larger winder will take up more space, I have a whole house but I have a lot of yarn and that is still my priority .lol

We have never been rude; however, this person has targeted many tenants the same way. As for my Duster, I didn't use a pattern per say, I made up four panels. One large for the back, two smaller for front. Two sleeves. Then I remembered I am a bit round in the tummy, so I had to make two side panels. The Pattern is just one row half double crochet, and one row of (triple crochet, slip stitch,) repeat until end of the row. I finished it with one row single crochet, two rows of double crochet and one more row of single crochet (for the ribbing)

We are in a valley, so we get them time to time. Even during the winter while it was snowing once. Never did figure out where the thump came from! I was sure someone big had fallen to the ground. I got his new shelf made up and the old one is tucked away safe from falling down.

oh holey cow ouch that's a lot of knitting and crochet. Well no one can say you don't put your self into your work. Yeah I can definately see a difference. Aww that awesome. Tell her congrats and also happy birthday to the little one. Did you check the book case in your sons room? That sounds like it's ready to go down any minute. Every time you run that thumb over your yarn, I can't help but wince. Yes a cup of tea sounds good to me too.

Thankfully the thumb doesn't hurt it's just scratchy and catches my yarn. I am taking a small break and getting some sleep! The shelf has nothing on it so it should be ok...I hope. The tea was just what I needed to help me get to sleep!

wow you have been videoing like crazy lol I have been trying to get caught up on your videos. That sweater is going to be beautiful, I love those greens together, and I love that stitch. Omg yes, I miss lay away. There was a jewelry store in my home town that use to do layaways I use to get so much from them at christmas and for birthdays. When you learn to use your psychic abilities to untangle the big knots, you let me know lol. See, this is why I wanted girls. Not that boys can't crochet but my boys can't. I would love to have a kid that would do things like that for me. I tried using black and white together once. I thought it would look neater than it actually did but it did make using the black yarn easier. Please don't tell me you have murdered the pink minion I really think a minionette would be awesome.I can see little girls loving the idea that there are girls in the group too.

I put a video pretty much every day. Watch when you can if you want to! Lay away was such a great way to handle buying expensive or out of reach items, while keeping a budget together. I wish I could untangle yarn from afar! I may have to take apart the pink minion, I am running really low on stuffing and well.... it will be ok.
