May I know if a guide is required? heard about the TIMS and restrictions, was there a fine or checks imposed?
@activityenthusiasts4 күн бұрын
Hi! This video was filmed 1 year ago and at that time there was no one checking, but it’s possible that that’s changed now

@@activityenthusiasts Are there checkpoints along the trek where they check for a TIMS card or a guide? Apparently it is mandatory to hire a guide now (since April 2023 actually).
@activityenthusiasts4 күн бұрын
@MikeLaw1980 Hi! We did this trek in November 2023 and we did not get questioned about a guide or a TIMS card. We’re not really aware of the current situation though

Did you need any licenses or some permission certificate for flying the drone ? I have a mini drone (less than 250g dji mini 4 pro) and I'm really confused about if I should bring it to Vietnam or no ... Please advise
@activityenthusiastsАй бұрын
Great question! We were also a little nervous about travelling with it at first. This is only my experience and opinion, but I feel as though the drone “license” is a cash grab. We flew in and out of Vietnam multiple times and were never questioned at the airport. Of course, it’s possible you might have a different experience, but we certainly would not purchase the licence, if we were to go back. Most importantly, there are no cops in the sky 🙄. Hope that helps! Happy flying!

We love all your videos! Such an inspiration for us. What kind of gear do you use on the bike? The sound sounds really good! Do you have a mike?
@activityenthusiasts2 ай бұрын
Thanks guys! Believe it or not, that is just the audio from our piece of junk GoPro hero 8. There was maybe 15% of this video that was filmed on our main camera with a ‘good’ mic. We must have been lucky with the lack of wind noise on that day 😅

A little bit of a misleading title. You’re a couple, it’s safer in pairs. I was with a female friend in parts of Colombia and had a lovely time. For the most part we were left alone, however we still did get uncomfortable a few times. The problem is that as soon as I was a solo female in Bogotá, I was targeted and misled constantly. Two days was enough to have me crying to get home. After the first day I just curled up in my hotel afraid to go outside. So sure, don’t be afraid to go to Colombia, but go with a friend or group, and keep your wits about you. Bogotá is a big city and perhaps I just got unlucky many times in a row, but it left a bitter taste at the end of an otherwise nice experience.
@activityenthusiasts2 ай бұрын
You make a good point. We are not a solo female traveller. I’m sure that would be a much different experience. We’re sorry that your experience in Bogotá wasn’t a positive one 🙁 As of the publishing of this video, we had only been to smaller cities, but we are in Bogotá now and going to touch on safety again in a future video. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 😊

Nice ride in Colombia. If you want to get into bike packing you should get a rear rack and some saddle bags. Having the weight on your back in a backpack makes everything more difficult. It looks beautiful there. What an awesome adventure. Can't wait to see what's next.

Thanks for the tips! And for watching! We will definitely make bike packing happen some day! I think we just need a little more practice

I guess e-bikes would really be cheating, wouldn't they?🤔 I admire your never-say-die attitudes, I'm positive I wouldn't have made that distance on a bike!

I think it’s not cheating as long as you enjoy yourself 😊. Sadly e-bikes were also 4x the price of the human-powered bikes 🙁
