Tron Legacy might look pretty but it was pretty meh, story wise

Its sad there are so few videos about this movie even with it being an absolute banger and the epitome of the "video game movie" genre.

It takes 15 minutes to get to the point, and those 15 minutes are filled with endless repetition of the same sentences and same footage, and a fucking sponsor ad. I absolutely despise this sort of American KZbin and TV editing and scripting.

imo the reason it looks this good, is rigging and texturing. the face is expertly rigged which makes the anatomy of it very believable. also the face has a lot of noise in its texture(thanos and the white orc for example look way too smooth and unicolor) and they also hit just the right spot with the firmness of the skin. a humans skin would be slightly more firm, but because it's supposed to be the skin of an octopus, the slightly wobblier simulation works wonders

honestly im not a movie guy(yet i constantly watch this movie) but i did take film study classes and i do come back to it just because the stunkwork was crazy, i thought some of the vfx was a little meh and i could never fully get why, youve helped me get another level of appreciation for these guys, their music videos were always kinda a drug trip but a good one

This was back then when CGI was at a peak. People in Hollywood cared about their jobs and were professionals, and were hired on because they were a professional. Hollywood doesn't do that anymore. There are diversity quotas that must be met. Also Disney had nothing to do with Star Wars, it was Lucasfilm, so their repetitiveness wasn't present. Not only that, quality was lower, no 4k. Now make it so realistic in 4k or higher, and it looks unrealistic because its not reality and it'll start to look more ridiculous, it almost looks non-fictional its so realistic, its equivalent to the feeling of reading a flat earth book and calling it reality. At that point in time of Star Wars, quality was just perfect. Not too real, not too fake. In between for our minds to make sense of a fictional story. That's why the scene still looks so realistic today.

Great video. I find it funny that every point of the video works for the character and what makes me love him so much. I never knew the reflective wet nature of his skin or the bright scenes actually made it easier. That's what has always drawn me to the character. It just seems so real. Also the fact that his height was relatively normal, yet his features were so foreign in all the right ways to make it more believable. You did a great job of condensing all of this info. Thank you <3

I first experienced this type of filmmaking through Markiplier's "A Heist with Markiplier" and loved how personal and "in the moment" it makes you feel, never knew movies had been made like that before. This is awesome!

NGL The whole musical dance sequence with the Doctor dude is the best movie sequence of ALL TIME. It was absolutely magical to see the dude fall and another with the same exact face stand up and move from the otherside of the room, to get that so smoothly is almost impossible.

If I wanted to see an animation of Doc Ock there are many good ones, why would I go to the cinema to see a CGI animation that has the constraints of real life and none of the stylistic exaggeration? I mean, the Spider man suit int he movie is full CGI... really? Applause for the CGI not being noticeable but why leave out so many wardrobe specialists that would die to make a suit?

To be fair, In Tron Legacy's case, de-aging someone is hard. The textures on Clue look okay, it's more so just the uncanny valley look that a de-aged Jeff Bridges gives off that makes it look bad. Even then, as the first major use of de-aging i think it looks great

There still was a large segment of the film audience who didn't like CGI even after the movie came out. Most people who didn't like CGI before weren't gonna be the ones going to watch this film. So what i think happened is that the generation of people who grew up in the CGI movie era( so ppl born roughly from the mid 80s onward).Where just starting to come of age during the late 2000s. With disposable incomes, and now in the prime movie going ages,18-25 roughly. This new movie going audience was ready to make movies like Avatar blow up. Conversely in the late 90s early 00s. The prime age movie going audience, were of an older generation who didn't grew up on CGI. Making them much less used to CGI. Thus making them more apt to complain about it.
